We're staying here for the first time next month. We'll have our own car and are not visiting the parks. Any particular requests we should make for our one bedroom? I just love the tips I usually get here! We had such an awesome room at VGC. Thanks! :goodvibes

I have not yet stayed at OKW but from what I have studied up on and read about on here, if for some reason you CANNOT DO STAIRS you need to request one of the 60s buildings. There are only 3 buildings that have elevators.

If you want to be close to the main pool/work out room, etc then BOOK your room in the Hospitality House category. It is a booking category from what I understand just like water view or preferred would be in some other resort.

We plan on staying there in October if they have availability and we are going to try to book HH category and request first floor. Since none of the HH buildings have elevators. I want to be close to the main pool for the kids in the evening and close to the GYM for my husband in the mornings.

We really enjoy the Turtle Pond area with a unit on the golf course. Love sitting on our deck. The pool is nice and quiet. If your boys want to spend most of their time at the main pool then request the Hospitality House area. Lots of fun activities in Community Hall and around the pool. Don't miss taking the boat to Downtown Disney. If you have problems with stairs, yes you can request the #60 buildings, but all OKW 1st floor units do not have stairs. Enjoy. We will be checking in Tues....love that resort.

We always request a first floor room because my DBF/co-member has a problem with stairs.
We prefer Turtle Pond because of the quiet, the views etc. ;) And the walk to HH isn't bad. :goodvibes
Our last trip in January we were in a 2 bedroom lockoff HA and the rest of the family was in a ground floor Grand Villa HA at South Point. Yes there is one ground floor GV at South Point. The 2 bedroom HA was at the end of the street and a fair walk to the bus. Luckily I had a wheelchair for my Mom and my friend had a scooter.
Having your own car makes it easier to get around to other resorts for meals etc.
I love OKW for the peace and quiet and theming. (Okay being a member for 20 years really makes it home to us.)

Oh, wow! I didn't realize it was this complicated. Is there a map somewhere? If Hospitality House is a special category...I'm sure we didn't request it. What's the next best option? 1st floor as close to HH as close to main pool as possible?
With 3 kids 7 and under and a baby...we should be near the action...not the quiet.

It's not really complicated. First, if you are not in the Hospitally House area, no big deal. There are no certain areas that are better than others for kids. You have a car, so you can easily drive to the pool or DH can walk to the gym as a warm up.

In 14 years we have never had a bad room. We had one room with a view of the jungle (first floor) but the building location was great. Have had some great views, but needed to walk quite a bit to the HH (pool). I can say I have never been totally disappointed. We love the Turtle Pond area for a quick dip in the pool. We have stayed in 31 and 32 and loved the views and the walk to the pools are not bad.

So unless you want a view (ask for the 3rd floor) or you can't do stairs, (ask for first floor), other than that, you can't go wrong.

Hey fellow Michiganer...you are so right...love OKW and you can't go wrong with any view!!!!!

We stayed OKW for the first time last month....I book to late and couldn't get Hospitality House area...I see on your ticker you have small children as do I....We were in building 55 Southpoint...we were the second stop coming back from everywhere which was great...the only request I made was first floor which we were...now it was great as far as being close to a bus stop seemed like maybe 10 steps we were also close to the playground and pool...now being that you have little ones if you are not staying in the HH area I need to suggest that you bring your own life jackets they do not provide any at the pool only the main pool...when we stayed at AKV they had them in bins by the pool so I mistakingly assumed that would be the case but there weren't any...my littlest is tiny and doesn't swim well and the pool in this area was too deep for him he couldn't reach even in the most shallow area..my kids are big on spending time in the pool during vacation so we had an entire pool day which we did drive over to the main pool and we had 2 pool mornings where we went to the pool close by

Buildings 15 & 64 are close enough for an easy walk to HH - I was just in 1511 and it was a great room. Nice view of the par 3, well trimmed, first floor, nice patio. Both of these buildings have eastern exposure on the decks/patios, so nice in the morning as it's warming up and can escape the heat of the afternoon sun. 16 & 62 are next on my list (western decks, though) then you get into 28 -35, all of which are longer walks back to HH.

Good luck - I think you'll love it, no matter where you stay!

I don't see in the book that OKW has an HH category? Am I missing it?

Thanks for all the info everyone! We'll put in a couple of requests and won't be bothered if they can't accomodate them!

Call and see if any HH 1 bd are still available and if so you can change your reservation.

Even if you request a certain area you may not get it since requests aren't guaranteed.

We'll be there in April too. I can't wait! :cheer2:
