OKW renos

At OKW right now and it appears that all of the South Point area is renovated. We're in 4713. Unlike many, we love the new renovations. Nothing to dislike from our end. Yes, we have heard footsteps in the room above as we're on the first floor but honestly, we heard noises from above prior to the new flooring. Another plus is that they have thinned out the vegetation significantly around many of the buildings. It had really become overgrown and was sorely needed imho.

OKW IS OUR FAVOURITE. WE HAVE STAYED THERE FOR 12 YEARS. WE LIKE THE OLD STYLE ROOMS AND NEW. BUT THE ONLY NEGATIVE FOR NEW FOR US WOULD BE THE DRAPES ON THE BALCONY DOORS. VERY STUPID DESIGN. THE PULL CORDS ARE WAY TO SHORT AND AWKWARD TO GET AT. I DONT THINK THEY WILL LAST LONG BEFORE BREAKING. WE MENTIONED THAT TO OKW CMs THEY HAVE HEARD SIMILIAR COMPLAINTS. OKW IS STILL OUR FIRST CHOICE. WE WILL BE THERE AGAIN FEB 20th to 24th AFTER OUR CRUISE.:cool1:

We are currently in 1523, a renovated grand villa. In fact, it's the same grand villa we stayed in 5 years ago. Five years ago we had some serious issues with the kitchen in this unit. The dishwasher door was knocked in, and didn't allow the lower rack to be pulled out all the way. The drawers and cupboard doors didn't fit will and we fought with them that whole trip. Well, guess what....This unit is one of the renovated ones, and those problems STILL exist 5 years later! The only difference is that now the drawers on either side of the stove don't fit either. Add to that the fact that the right facing kitchen had a left handed fridge door, and you could say this kitchen did not work at all.

We were quit disappointed in the renovation (or lack of it) in this grand villa. The kitchen didn't really appear to have had anything much done to it except for the new granite tops. Basically, the only thing we could see was all cosmetic....nothing really improved. Lots of very bland paint that lacked any color or interest. The floors were beautifully refinished (so glad they didn't cover them up with the cheap vinyl), but our guests commented that it didn't really look like it had been redone at all. They told of their timeshare renovation where everything was made to look both new and fresh and clean.

I have been wondering how your trip was going. I'm glad you got the building you requested, but sorry you're disappointed in the "renovation." I really don't think what they have done can be considered a renovation at all. There are new soft goods, floors, and granite counter tops, but, as you said, nothing was done to the cabinetry - and that's in dire need of "renovation." I was also a little disappointed that nothing was done with the appliances, but I assume that's not cost effective and is better done on an "as needed" basis. And it's "needed" with many of the frigs and dishwashers on property.

Thinking of changing my ressie to OKW studio.... question. DO all studios have a patio or balcony? If no, where should we stay away from? having a balcony is VERY important to me. Thanks all:goodvibes

To my knowledge, yes, all OKW studios do have a balcony. But the ground floor studios usually have the very large, not-very-scenic AC units smack dab near them. So with studios, try to request a 2nd or 3rd floor.

And some of them have transformers located there or are surrounded by shrubbery like bamboo or other stuff.

Go higher with your request.
