Hi all!! Husband just surprised me with a birthday trip to Disney with my best friend for our birthdays (leaving the kids at home)!! Leaving in five days, booked today and Got OKW One bedroom Studio with the kitchenette. Anyone stay there and have advice/opinions? Are buses plentiful? Better to stay closer to the front? I have stayed at lots of different resorts, but never this one. It seems so large and spread out. Is it similar to POR? Thanks so much!!:cloud9:

OKW one bedroom is very large and there is not a kitchenette, it is a full kitchen with dining table and all full size appliances, and a separate master bedroom and master bath with jacuzzi. If you have a studio, then there is a kitchenette with micro, refrig area, two queen size beds and small table and 2 chairs. The overall sq. footage in a studio is must bigger than a standard room. It sounds like you must be in a studio, not a one bedroom. OKW is wonderful resort. We are dvc members and owners at OKW since 1994 and have enjoyed everything about the resort. We love ath activitites, atmoshere and having your car right outside you building. The bus system does take you to the main pool and hospitality house, but it is a doable walk from most areas.

Yes, I booked the studio...sounds nice. Are the buses to the parks efficient? Also, how late is the food area, resturant and store open? I am also trying to go to DTD after the parks close one night for dinner, and was wondering how late the boats and/or buses run? I am so excited to try a new rersort!!

The buses at OKW are some of the best I have ever had while staying at Disney. We are DVC owners and have stayed at SSR and VWL and have found that the buses at OKW came the most frequently and almost never are filled to people standing. As far as the hours for Olivia's and the General Store, I think they are open till 10pm. The buses keep going to and from DTD until it closes and the boats hour vary, just check the dock when you check into the resort. OKW is my favorite resort at WDW and I hope you enjoy it as well.

Hi! You are going to really enjoy OKW. Location depends upon what you prefer. Do you want to be close to all the hustle and bustle? Or, do you want to really feel as though you have left all the chaos behind when you are at your studio?

We usually prefer the buildings more toward the back. We like the quiet, and we like the walkway to DTD from OKW.

The little shop stays open until 11:00 pm. Olivia goes until 10:00 usually, but has been known to close up early if it's really slow. Same with the snack bar and the Gurgling Suitcase.

You can rent bikes at the front of the resort and actually ride them along the walkway to DTD. You cannot take them into DTD though, so don't plan on that as a means to visit there! Plus, the walkway is only open from dawn until dusk. Guess they don't want any guests falling into the canal. YIKES!

The bus transportation is very good for the most part, although family of mine who just had a stay there waited 45 minutes from PI for a bus back to OKW one night.

The ferry to DTD is considered recreation and not transportation and that means that it stops whenever the weather looks at all bad.

The buses all stop at the Hospitality House before leaving OKW so if you are staying toward the back and don't want to walk to the front, you can hop any bus.

Don't waste time on requesting a nice view. All the views are nice! Also, if you request a top floor (some are second, some third) you will have the quietest option as there will be no one stomping above your head.

The little refrigerator is great for holding extra bottles of water and leftovers that you couldn't finish at dinner! There will be a few paper plates and plastic cutlery in the villa to get you started. They do have proper cups though, so that is nice.

If you like coffee or tea, bring your own as there usually is only enough for one day (teabags are usually more). You need the coffee filters (flat bottomed round ones) too. Also, there is no salt and pepper in the villas, so if you want that, pack some disposables.

We like to have some ziplock style bags or other easy to pack container for leftovers too. You'll be suprised what you can accumulate!

Have a wonderful time and I hope you enjoy OKW! I know I do!
