Family gathering planned for early December. This will be our first time at OKW and we are very excited! We have 3 1-BR villas reserved. Can any of you OKW veterans tell me which rooms have great views and not too far from a bus stop?
I know this is a subjective question but any info/advice will help a lot. The resort is so big that it is difficult to know which rooms we should request, if any. Can't wait to see OKW in person. :grouphug:Thank you!

You need to remember no guarantee that you will be in the same bldg, let alone the same area...any thought to just renting an OKW grand villa?

I know there is no guarantee but it wouldn't hurt to call OKW about a week or two before and put in a request. We have 17 people total in our group. I reserved 3 rooms on my points and 2 rooms were reserved on another DVC member's points. Don't think even the Grandvilla could accommodate all 17 of us comfortably. So ... you're saying, even though our ressies are together, we could still be split far apart?

Unfortunately, the answer will lie in what rooms are available and in what bldg. two rooms maybe, three uh, you can always hope, but I wouldn't count on it. Grand villas are for 12. How are you fitting 17 persons in 3 one bedrooms that only sleep 4/ bring your own bedding for one that would make 5. So max would be 15 people.

So my first and only request would be, please put us in the same bldg. and forget about asking about specific rooms or bldgs.

You're right .. we DO have 5 1-bedrooms (3 on my points and 2 on another family member's points). So, I'll take your advice and focus on asking for the same building for our rooms and hope that the rooms we get are as nice as the photos I've seen! Thanks for the tips!

Don't bother calling the resort. It's a waste of time because you'll just get the call center. Just put your request on your reservation with Member Services. You may want to include "traveling with" on both reservations.

The resort will try to locate all in the group "near" each other but it does need to be noted on each of the reservations.

I'd call MS and have the request noted on all 5 reservations. With that request, I'd be cautious about additional location requests as you will already limit the potential availability.

I might ask for the villas to be in the Turtle Pond area - as you will be near a bus stop and a pool, plus most buildings there will have a golf course view. Our family had two 2BRs and a 1BR last week at OKW and were all located on the second floor of building 36. At other times we have made the same request and were in 2 buildings next to each other.

You should have the reservation #s for your 3 villas as well as the other two reservations. Your friend should call MS and make the same request with the reservation #s for all villas too.

Enjoy! :)

Thank you for the info Doc. I know there are no guarantees and, honestly, we're just happy to be in WDW and thrilled to be at OKW. But just wondering when would be a good time to contact MS with my request -- now or closer to arrival time?

Ok I just checked and here are the bldgs that have more than 4 one bedrooms in the same bldg and add bldg 64:

Type D buildings are all 3 stories.
1st Floor- 2,1,S,S,1,1,S,S,1,2
2nd Floor- 2,1,S,S,1 1 S,S,1,2
3rd Floor- 1,S,S,1 1 S,S,1
Buildings 14,18,35 and 38 are all Type D.

So if you have five one bedrooms, and hope to be together these would be the options...14 is HH so thats out.

I recall one poster that had 2 2 bedrooms and ended up Miller road and turtle pond...farthest apart. They were linked, but only availability on the day they checked in. You are going during the busiest DCV time...so, relax and enjoy your trip, and possibly don't put too much hope that you'll get 5 together, so you aren't disappointed.

It doesn't matter, they just note your reservation record.

Just call now and add it to your reservation. No need to wait.

I'd just go ahead and make the request with MS. It will be noted on the reservations so the room assignor can review that just before you arrive. The sooner the better, IMO.

Good luck! :)

As far as bus stops, there are many bus stops in each area. It is a large resort, so I hope you like walking if you are at the far end.

There is only one bus stop in each area at the resort. OKW has 5 stops - the usual order returning from a Theme Park is Peninsular Road, South Point. Old Turtle Pond, Miller Road and Hospitality House. When returning from DD, the usual sequence is HH, Miller, Peninsular, South Point, Turtle Pond and then back to HH before the return to DD.

From South Point, it is about a 10 minute walk to the Hospitality House, so nothing is really too far at the resort.

Here is a map of OKW - Bus Stops are denoted using a Bus logo:
