Got a question. When you stay at Old Key West, if you want to get to the main lobby, How do you get there without a car?

Hop on any bus, they all go to the Main check in building.

Walking works pretty well. Unless you are way down the south point, you should be able to walk to the main lobby in 10 minutes or less.

We request building 14 right behind.

13 minute walk from building 39. Did this numerous times earlier this month.

WAlk if you want, but EVERY bus stops there last before exiting the resort, so any bus will do.

Building 13 is pretty close to the lobby area (HH) & Olivia's. I'd say not much more than a 60 second walk. We usually walk. Stayed in #34 last summer and it was not much more than a 7 min walk.
I'd take the bus if I was maybe the farthest bldg out in Southpoint or Turtle Pond (like bldgs #'s 41,49,50). But even then I have walked from #43. It's just nice to know that you have the option to hop on any bus (not just the internal one) to take u to HH.

Some people make the walks out to be more than they actually are. I recently read a thread where someone was looking for a way to get to Cape May Cafe restaurant. Someone mentioned how convenient it was to get around the Boardwalk area and suggested that they walk from MGM to Cape May. Now that's a hike (of course there's a boat as well). Probably about 25+ minutes.
I just don't see the difference in walking around OKW vs walking around the BW area. WDW is simply a walking kind of vacation.

The buses in OKW, where do they go? If I wanted to get to another resort from OKW, would I have to go to the TTC and then hop on a bus there to the resort?

As with any disney resort, in order to visit other hotels, you need to either:
1) take any bus at OKW going to a theme park then catch a bus going to your desired hotel from there
2) take the DD bus at OKW and transfer to the desired hotel bus from there
3) take a cab (most cases you'll pay around $6-$10 one-way plus tip).

do they have buses at OKW to the TTC?

No- the buses at any of the resorts either go to a Theme Park or to DD.

Your resort-to-resort options are either take a bus to a Theme Park or to DD and then change to a bus headed for the resort you wish to visit. We allow an hour for visits to other resorts - sometimes we get there in about 20 minutes - sometimes it takes the whole hour.

Enjoy!

Of course if you really want to get to the TTC (I guess there are some greater Orlando busses that stop there?) you can take the Magic Kingdom bus from OKW (they stop right at the front of the park) and walk over to the monorail station or ferry station and take one of those around or across the water to get to TTC. Or you could take a bus to Epcot and catch the monorail from there - would be a longer walk and longer monorail ride, though.

Where are you trying to get to? I have a chart with time estimates from the UG and would be happy to look up something specific. There is also a trip calculator online somewhere.....lost all my links in a tragic computer accident....might take a little time to track down again.

I'm trying to figure out what the exact times the buses leave for the park. I know they depart 1 hour before the park opens, but what about after that?

It's posted that they transport back to your resort up to an hour after park closing, but my experience has been it's more like 2 hours. I think it's nearly impossible to get everyone out of the parks in 60 min. Heck...we've waited up to 30 min alone (on occasion) for busses to get back to our resort due to sheer numbers of guests at the bus stops at park closing. We've had to wait for 2 busses because they can be so full/packed at park closing.

We often wait and linger in the park for up to 45 min after it closes because the bus stops aren't so crowded a little later on. It's initially a cattle call with people leaving right after the fireworks show (MK/Epcot/Fantasmic at MGM), so we'll grab a dog at Casey's or something similar and then catch the bus back "home" up to an hour after park close-----and there's still alot of people waiting for busses at those times, so I would imagine busses run easily up to 2 hours after park closings.

Ah, that is one of the main frustrations people have with the busses - they say they run them every 15-20 minutes, but you can never be quite sure when that cycle starts or where you are in it when you leave your room. They aren't on a schedule like city busses - they arrive when they arrive. So when you arrive at the bus stop, you don't actually know if you will be getting on a bus in 2 minutes or in 20 minutes. Generally, we have waited 5-10 minutes, but there have been a few times when we have gotten right on a bus. All the time estimates are just estimates because you never really know exactly how long you will be waiting for that bus to arrive.

Now, here is the brilliant thing about OKW, at least the part of OKW where I stayed. If your bus stop is the Penninsular Road stop, sometimes you will see a bus returning from the Southpoint area and because the bus drives on and turns around at one (or is it two) more stop(s), you can walk quickly to HH and catch it on the way out of the resort. If you don't mind hustling a little, that is. We did that a couple of times when we were trying to make it to somewhere as quickly as possible. Other times, we weren't as concerned with the time and just waited in comfort at Penninsular Road.

This lack of any sort of certainty in bussing doesn't bother my family too much, but I have some friends who have a harder time with the uncertainty of when the bus will arrive - their son is very frustrated by the lack of information about how long they may be waiting at the bus stop.

Oh gosh - and one other thing - it has been my experience that there are busses running earlier than an hour before the park opens. They are allegedly running for character meals, but the bus driver does not check, at 7:30, if you are going to a character meal or if you just want to be first in line at the turnstiles. In fact, I would have to guess that they generally start running at least an hour before the first character meal, since I generally tend to allow about an hour to get from the bus stop to the restaurant. If we have an 8am ADR, I will have us out to the bus stop by 7.

alright- If I wanted to go from OKW to the MK, but I wanted to take the monorail at TTC, how do I do that?

I know it takes 12-40 minutes to get to MK from OKW, but how come they don't offer buses from OKW to TTC?
