OKW--other than GVs...

...Is there any other type of room or time of year that the 7 month window would not suffice?

I know the GVs are difficult (if not impossible) at the 7 month mark and while we have kids in school we will be vacationing during peak seasons so I'm sure the GVs will not be an option.

However, what's the likelihood of being able to book into studios/1brs/2brs at the 7 month mark throughout the year? We're hoping to bring extended family once in a while and OKW seems like a great option to save points.

We've never been there before--and aren't really sure how often the extended family thing would actually happen, but just from looking at the points chart I can see why there are so many fans of OKW!

Last year we booked at the 7 month point and were able to book a 2 bedroom villa at OKW. We really wanted the Grand Villa but they were all booked. Member Services suggested putting the Grand Villa "on call." Surprisingly, about 2 months later, they called and told us the Grand Villa was available if we wanted it. Of course we took it and it was great!

AS the previous poster stated, the waitlist is always a possibility. As for the 7 month booking window...MOST times of the year it should be sufficient, but holiday times and maybe early December might be the only times to worry.

I was able to book a one bedroom for OKW for our October of 2007 trip at about five months out for 7 nights. I also booked a studio for 15 nights in late May into early June at seven months out. We really love OKW so we just book at SSR at 11 months and then decide if we want to switch or not. For October this year we are staying put at SSR.
