okw or yacht club

Did you get a breakdown of the car cost? you can usually save £100-£200 by booking the car elsewhere.

Given that the cost of the Yacht Club booking was approx £5400, Bex said the tickets were approx £1100 so I am guessing the car costs are around £500. I can't see how you would be able to beat that since, with 5 of them, they would need at least a full size.

Its only 2 weeks Joh, £500 is a lot for car hire. Just priced up for same dates this year, incl insurance
Full Size £210.76
7 Seater minivan £266.22
Both final price after cashback. Possibly cheaper in a sale like we had on Monday when I booked Full size SUV for £139 (7 nights) Same week with USrentacar £242.

Well, just checked Thomas Cook website and 14-day tickets for 2013 for the whole family would come out at £1364 so, in actual fact, that would mean the car costs were nearer to £150 - so a bargain then ;-)

That would be a bargain, would even struggle with a sale at that. :thumbsup2

the car was free included in the package and we added the top insurance on to the quote with full tank fuel , the insurance was £260

we wasnt bothered about having a car given we were planning staying in disney but the transfers from sanford were £29 each

i am still struggling with decision , it really is a amazing price for that hotel and i know its such a good deal but spending the £6,900 is more than we had planned we was hoping for more like a 5k trip, so if we do book this it will limit the money we have spare to take with us for spends

also if we are going to spend 6,900 it seems we are not doing a low cost trip so may aswell go back to our original 5 week mega tour !! ( had decided a quick cheap disney only trip) until kids are bigger then do the big trip in a couple years

i have a huge pile of brochures and the florida keys pics are making me melt ! i want to be there sooo much

only advantage t been so undecisive is its more weeks of saving and not soo much sending yet :confused3

Look into a moderate hotel or value resort and get dining free as you don't spend loads of time in room

no free didning in the value resorts , thomson and thomas cook have both quoted me for port orleans riverside at 6,200 so not a huge saving so for all the extra lovelyness of yacht and the ddp it doesnt seem worth it to only save £700

the disney website gives me a really good price on port orleans riverside (£2729.50) but you cant book flight packages yet for sept 2013 and im not sure i like the idea of just booking accomodation, dining and ticket package on there own , if i cant find any flights within our budget nearer the time or on the dates booked i will be panicking !!

Seriously Bex, you will not be paying £4000 for flights in September. I would book Port Orleans at that price. Does that include dining and tickets?

yes i did the accomodation and tickets package, it had the qsdp and 14 day tickets !!
if i did go ahead and book that on the disney websites when is the best time to get the flights then ? what if they are all sold out ? how late do i leave it ??

also do flights go out to florida daily or do i need to make sure the accomodation package starts on a certain day of the week??

even if we got the flights at £500 per person it would bring the whole thing in at just over 5k which is a figure more like we was looking to spend !!

i have just heard people always say when booking seperate its best to have the flighst booked first ??

Hi I had the exact same worry when I booked last yr!
I booked SSR 15 night free DDP for 5 disney adults (I upgraded my 7 yr old twins to the adult DDP as they prefer the food) and my 10 yr old is classed as an adult, with 14 day Ultimate tickets it came in at £4888 in a 2bed It was too good to turn down but I was worried I wouldnt get flights at a good price!

Well a few months ago flights where still really expensive and I could have waited but I just wanted to get it booked as Im not well I wanted it all down before surgery.
Anyways I found the flights I wanted going a day earlier as planned because it was actually £300 cheaper to pay 1 day hotel then fly the day i planned to!
The flights for 5 people with Virgin cost me £3130 going 24th september coming bk 16th october.(we are doing a wk Universal before Disney due to the saving on the SSR room)
We always have gotten 2 rooms before even at POP which i love by the way but It came up cheaper doing it this way.

I booked last October for this year's September trip. Flights were not available on Disney UK but I booked the accommodation anyway. I called them up when fights were released and they offered to add flights which the CM said "looked pretty good" A quick mental calculation of deducting the room and tickets price from the one she quoted me brought the flights out at around 850 or so per person. I declined and left the reservation as it was. A week or so later, I got flights with BA for under £500 per person direct from Gatwick and that INCLUDES our internal connections from Edinburgh. Last year we went in September and came back in October and went indirect via Newark with Continental Airlines. We also paid under £500 per person with them then. Sometimes flight inclusive throws out some good deals/price glitches, but I DIY has been the way to go for me for the last few years.

so budgeting £500 each for flights x5 = £2500 plus the disney quote is still way cheaper than the travel agents then the port orleans package with agent was £6200

do u think it will a problem getting us 5 seats on a plane, will it be likely we are split u and not seated together ?

You will be fine - they like to keep families together :thumbsup2

We haven't booked a package for years (and we can't now as we have DVC) and I have never had trouble getting flights out of school holidays :thumbsup2

Talk to a travel agent and they will tell you to book early or you might struggle to get seats, in reality airlines struggle to sell seats in Sept, its one reason seats are so expensive in school hols we are subsidising people that go in low season. Chances are there will be many empty seats on your plane in Sept.
