Hi everyone
I have already booked us at SSR but my 10 yr old DS is wanting to stay at OKW, so I want to ask the experts, which one should be stay at?

I prefer OKW, but tell me WHEN you are traveling. OKW is going to be doing construction on the main pool early this year, so unless it's after spring, you might not want to risk it.

Our home resort is OKW and we love it. Having said that, we have stayed at SSR a few times as well. We much prefer OKW. Just love the feeling there and my kids love the kids club!

Wherever you go, enjoy!!

Pros of Old Key West is that the rooms are larger and you get 2 queen beds instead of a bed and sofa bed. I also feel that the buses are a bit less crowded at this resort. The con is that you are likely going to be in a building without an elevator and might be on an upper floor so you have stairs to go up and down. Also, the counter service is outside seating only.

I've stayed at both and feel the only advantage SSR has is their counter service having inside seating. But, I've seen it very busy at times and had to still go sit outside.

I think they are really similar resorts. Both the dds (12&9) and I like the water slide better at OKW than either of the pool slides at SSR. I like OKW for the cheaper points and SSR for for the views & proximity to DTD.

i have never stayed at OKW but I am pretty sure I would miss DTD--we like to walk over.

I have stayed at both. Each have pros and cons. OKW has the larger villas. SSR has its proximity to DTD. I like eating at SSR's The Artist Palette over OKWs counter service. I also like OKW's Olivia's Cafe over SSR's Turf Club Bar & Grill.

Enjoy which every you choice.:goodvibes

We own at OKW but have stayed at both resorts. They have a similar feel to us and both have boat transportation to DTD. If traveling with our kids, we prefer OKW since the studios have two queen beds.

Does anyone know what they are doing to the main pool at OKW??

OP to answer your question I think you would have a fantastic time at either SSR or OKW. Love them both!

FWIW I have a 2 bedroom booked for BLT in October and want to switch to OKW but my grandkids want to go to SSR. ;) I just want them to give OKW a try.

We have stayed at both and we prefer OKW. The villas are larger and better laid out (and were reno-ed not long ago). If you request to be near the HH (main building), you can catch the buses at the HH to go out to the parks...then get off at the 1st stop coming in (at Penninsular...which is next to the HH) ...this way you avoid all the internal stops and SSR doesn't have a trick like that so you are stuck on a long bus ride with many stops. If you are near the HH at OKW, the boat is right there to take you to DD...nice little ride. OKW is very quaint as well.

We really love both.
OKW Pros: theme, space, activities, less points
Cons: dining options limited
SSR Pros: dining options with cs, activities, location
Cons:resort is big and some areas too far from main area.

Not sure what your son likes to do. At mine like playing tennis basketball ping pong and pool(@ssr). These activities are closer to main pool at okw. My kids are older so I don't mind them going to basketball and tennis area st ssr.

Love both also. Saratoga is our home and I feel is easier to get around. Old Key West has a nice quiet charm. Points are about the same, Saratoga only a little more...
