OKW or SSR?

We're looking at booking a May weekend getaway and there is availability at both OKW and SSR. We won't be spending much time at the resort and the points difference is extremely minimal (I think DH said 3 or 5 points more at SSR for 3 nights). We've never stayed at either, although have been at the
SSR DVC sales office a few times.

Which resort would you say is easiest to navigate? We'll be arriving after midnight and will already be exhausted--don't want to envision us wandering around a huge resort trying to find our room. Are there multiple bus stops at each resort and do they stop at other resorts coming from or going to the parks?

There are multiple bus stops within SSR and OKW. I have never experienced a SSR or OKW bus going to another resort (There is the occasional water park and park shared route that all resorts experience)

Is it just the 2 of you? Studio or 1BR? OKW has bigger rooms, but OKW studios have 2 queen beds and no couch. SSR has 1 queen and the pull out couch. I would prefer the couch for sitting.. but if sleeping 3+ then the bed may be appreciated by the others..

I almost think SSR would be a little, but not much, easier to drive through (OKW is more of a bunch of cul-de-sacs off the main road, where SSR is mostly one ring with a cul-de-sac for the Grandstand section)

Are you driving or flying? If flying, both have bell services with multi-person golf carts to drive you and luggage to your building if you arrive via bus/taxi/town car.. (for a tip, of course)

Just the two of us in a studio. Glad you said something about the beds--I wouldn't have even thought of one or two beds.

We'll be flying in, arriving after midnight. Very nice to hear that bell services will actually take you to your building.

I think we may end up booking OKW and trying to wait list our home (BLT) or BCV.

Was able to get lunch reservations to Les Chefs and Liberty Tree, so now all we need is DMIL to say she'll watch DS for a few days, and then to actually book our flight and accomodations.

OKW is a more compact resort, so navigating through it to your room when you arrive is going to be much simpler. Also, at OKW you'll park very close to your room because of the way the buildings are clustered.

I love both resorts, but think SSR is easier to navigate IMO. OKW has bigger rooms, but SSR is newer and closer to DTD. I think you'll be happy with either, they are 2 of my favorites!! Enjoy!

For 2 people, I look the room layout at SSR better.

I think SSR is easier to navigate. I found the bus transportation to be equal.

We much prefer SSR over OKW. It's newer and in better shape. I like the split bath vs the all-in-one type at OKW. Actually, I don't like the studio layout at OKW much at all - and the closet is teeny tiny. The SSR grounds are lovely and the buses were spot on when we went (stayed in the Grandstand section). :thumbsup2 At OKW we once waited well over 1 hour for a bus to the MK!! IMHO the buses at OKW are the worst on property. It was not uncommon to wait 30-40 minutes for a bus. We also prefer the onsite dining options at SSR to OKW.

I've had 3 SSR stays vs 1 OKW stay, and I would overall say the bus service was similiar.
I've had one of those 1 hour MK waits at SSR (Although the SSR grandstand bus stop golf course view  is probably the best view from a bus stop on property) and then found out my wait spared me a shower that just went through MK.. But it seemed my average wait was the same as the average OKW wait that I experienced.

If it were me, I'd choose SSR for the couch. But if you do plan on changing, you might as well start with the cheaper points room OKW. (in case you switch to something less than SSR?)
