We have planned our second DVC vacation for this coming October. We stayed last year at SSR, our home resort, and loved it. This year we are traveling with 4 other adults and I am begining to wonder about our current choices.

We currently have a 2BR and Studio reserved at SSR for the thirt week of October. I looked last night and we have enough points for a Grand Villa at OKW. Our concerns are besides availability, 1) Since the resort is an original DVC resort, are the rooms as nice and crisp as the rooms at SSR? 2) If there is availability what building or location is best for us?

Can anyone please provide some suggestions to our Disney dilema?

Thanks... I will have to brush up with my abbreviations, but not oo bad for my first posting. :wave2:

First off, WELCOME to the DisBoards! :)

I don't think I would describe the OKW rooms as "crisp". That calls to mind something more elegant like the furniture at SSR?

OKW rooms are in good condition, but they have more of the Florida condo feel...more laid back and casual than "crisp".

Personally, I don't think that one area of OKW is much better than others. Some people like a water view. Others like a golf view. Others want to be near the Hospitality House/Main Pool.

Here's a map of OKW. Like I said, they are all nice and if you make a request, you'd want to do so by "area", not by specific building to give yourself the best chance. But of course, they're still just requests.

You've probably heard about the room size difference and how much larger OKW rooms are than other DVC resorts. This is especially true for the 1BR and larger villas.

I don't have direct experience, but most people here indicate that getting a Grand Villa without the home booking advantage is very difficult. Good luck! :)

I agree with everything Granny said, but the real issue with a GV is will one be available at the 7 month booking window. Since you are talking about October, I'd say a VERY SLIM to none chance. I just now noticed you meant THIS October, so ANY room would be doubtful anywhere, since that is the F&W and just a couple months away.

Thank you for the input. You are right on the availability. According to member services there are no GV available at any of the resorts during that week. We will leave the reservations as they stand and still enjoy every aspect of Disney and the F&W.

Thanks again.
