OKW or SSR when buying DVC Resale?

Any thoughts on whether OKW or SSR would be a better purchase of resale DVC? We currently do not own DVC, and are thinking of starting with a resale contract. The lower costs per point are tempting for both resorts. (Although, I think ideally we would like AKL or BLT. But due to husband's job, we don't often book at 11 mo out anyway when renting points). Not sure how much the shorter length of contract for OKW really matters...Any opinions/ideas are welcome!

Right now the best bang for the buck is SSR. Lower dues but slightly higher resale make it cheaper in the long run projections. But if you can get OKW extended at a good price. OKW is the only resort with the studios with 2 queen beds. OKW is going thru a refurb right now and when OKW is done in 2019, they are going to refurb SSR.

But only if you want to stay at the same resort for the next 25-50 years.
If you do not have a favorite, want to try different resorts over time, can book 7 months out, have some flexibility with travel dates and do not want to travel in August, then SSR is the best deal. This is especially true if you want 1bedrooms.
If you cannot book consistently at 11 months do not buy a pricier resort. If you cannot book 7 month out do not buy DVC.

I actually like staying at both these resorts. I like the simplicity of parking near your unit and buses that run through the resort and boat rides to Disney Springs. At OKW, I like the 2 queen beds... wish there were more arrangements like that at other resorts, but I don't like the stairs. At SSR it is nice to have an elevator. I would think the extra years would encourage me to buy there.

I have OKW and AKL. I ended up paying $10pp more for AKL then OKW so it was a good deal. I honestly would go with Saratoga even though I love OKW seems like it resales at a higher cost in case you decide to sell down the road (so better value) Also lower dues and contract is currently longer than OKW unless u get the extended.

Both have easy access to DS, the rooms at OKW are much larger. I think what it boils down to are you going to pay the same price per point for a contract that will end in 2042 or one that ends in 2057. You can find an extended OKW contract which would essentially make the 2 resorts fairly equal except for looking at room size and configuration.

The best way to decided which one is right for you is to write a pro/con list. From there if not able to visit each resort then look at as many youtube videos of the resort as well as room tours. Look and compare room sizes. OKW was the first DVC and they build rooms bigger than any other resort.

If you are not considering anything except the numbers then SSR has traditionally made the best choice with lower MF and buy in.
