I am a SSR owner and was on the waitlist for all the resorts for a vacation in November. OKW opened up. We haven't stayed their yet, so I am a bit excited about it. We are trying to have a sample of all the resorts before we do our first add-on, so this gives us a chance to try a new one for us.

I have to admit though, I was getting excited to go "home" to SSR. I really love the resort. I am actually bringing my family, including my parents and niece and nephew with us, so wanted to charm them with DVC. They have never had any opportunities like this, so I am excited to share with them.

If you were in my situation, would you stick with SSR (home) or try out OKW? We are getting a 2 bedroom and the points are almost the same (difference of 10 points) I know I will be happy at whatever resort we end up. We will be at DVC and DIsneyworld. What more could you ask for. It is our Christmas trip for the year, so we are definately looking for any thing that will make our trip really memorable.

Thanks in advance for your opinions.

Whatever you ultimately decide, grab OKW now while you can. You can stay on the waitlist for SSR, then make the decision if and when that comes through.

Good luck! :smokin:

Okay, after re-reading your post I'm a bit confused. Do you already have an SSR ressie, or are you waitlisted? :smokin:

I had a SSR ressie and told them they could automatically book me into one of the resorts on my waitlist if it came open. So as of right now, I have a reservation at OKW, but if I called, I am confident they would still have the SSR ressie available.

That's a tuffie.

OKW will be more spacious and you will have a large patio.

SSR is really nice and a closer walk to DTD. The 2 bdr's are really nice there too.

I think your family will be impressed with either.

OKW is known for it's larger units, but some are not ideally located.

We have not stayed at OKW yet either, but if we do, I would do it with the opportunity to stay in the 1 bdr or larger, not the studio.

Sooooo.......I would give the slight edge to OKW because you are staying in a 2 bedroom and they are truly impressive. I think the unit will make up for a potential bad location.

I would miss SSR, but one of the reasons we purchased OKW in addition to the others was for our extended family trips. We've just not had one yet :goodvibes

:wizard: For your decision.

Im not saying you will receive a bad location at OKW, but that would be my main concern and the above would be my thought process to get past that concern, if that makes sense :teeth:

Since you are going in the fall, I'd choose SSR because it has more of a "fall" feel with the Victorian decor and foliage. I'd choose OKW for Spring Break.

We have stayed at both resorts and both are very nice. You will have a much bigger room at OKW for less pts. Other than the size of the villas and pt needed; these 2 resorts are very much alike. They are both in the same location on WDW property, both have the same transportation options, both have relatively the same dining options, and both are condo style resorts vs the hotel style resorts.
SSR villa decor is more upscale antique type furniture, while OKW is more light, airy and tropical. Both resorts are themed very nicely.
If it was us, we would stay at SSR this trip. Only because it is your first trip as DVC members. For your first visit, I think, you should stay at your home resort. Your visit trip as DVC members is very special, at least it was for us! We would never even considered staying anywhere but our home resort for our 1st trip as DVC members! We were beyond excited!
We would pick SSR for the 1st trip "home" as DVC members. OKW is not going anywhere, you can stay there on a future trip. And when you do, you WILL be thrilled with the size of the 2 brs and the balconies!
Have a great trip!

It sounds like you may have adults and older kids with you so I might lean towards SSR for the DTD location. You can walk over and back so easy you will always have some thing to do for everyone, but as said both resorts are great and you and your family wont be dissapointed. Have a great trip. :cool1:
