OKW or SSR by choice?

I haven't stayed but the vibe I got was different if we are just talking vibes not layout. I didnt get a cute retirement village vibe at SSR like I got at OKW. I got a large golf course resort vibe at SSR. Where the retired people vacation and play golf not live 😂

Honestly the vibe of SSR and OKW isn't all too different - both are slightly more spread out, more 'residential' feeling, you have separate buildings and park your car in front of your building, views are mostly lakes, golf course, and trees/woods. Both are more connected to Disney Springs than parks. Both have multiple bus stops. OKW rooms are bigger, and DS access is by boat (or very long walk). SSR is much closer to walk to DS, and the rooms are more recently refreshed.

Haha this is the problem with this thread I read Zackies response and said OK I'm going with SSR final answer, Then I read VGCs right after and said...yup...sticking with OKW for sure! Yikes I'm in limbo now lol

I've stayed at both. The first time at OKW, we were not anywhere near the lobby/main pool. We had a car, but it was still a pain with a little one to pack up just to swim etc. Also, our cluster did not have an elevator, so it was hard with a stroller. We then stayed there again a few years ago, but this time in a Hospitality area room. That was nice! Our studio was quiet. It was nice being to close to the central hub. I enjoyed the size of the studio. I would stay there again...if there.

As to SSR, I have also been there a few times. That resort tends to be my "of last resort" resort. I did like the refurb. It's perfectly fine, but it's not my favorite.

Bottom line, I would prob pick OKW over SSR if a Hospitality area room like you currently have. But, if other resorts were still available, I would probably consider a monorail resort or CC/Boulder.

I feel I owe the posters here who replied to me an apology. You were all so kind to give me your opinions between OKW and SSR and I went ahead and broke down and booked elsewhere at my 7 month today. I had every intention of trying OKW but the Poly tower was sitting there begging me switch. Have wanted to stay there so badly since it opened and this seemed to be the perfect opportunity to try it out. As an added bonus I'm a very value oriented person (to a fault sometimes) and using OKW points for the Poly tower makes me feel like they're put to great use.

So I WILL try OKW for sure...all the videos I watched really made me feel like it's such a nicer resort than it gets credit for. The pool area looks like a lot of fun and it feels like it's a real getaway from the hustle and bustle of the parks. Wouldn't have even looked into it had it not been for this thread. Thanks again!
