We're booked for 4 nights a studio at OKW, at AP rate it's only about $30 more per night than a mod.

But.... I keep thinking about changing to POFQ. We've stayed there before, really love the atmosphere and the beautiful grounds, DD is a water slide wimp but the dragon slide is just her size, it's a small resort and first on and off the bus.... And I just have really fond memories of it as the first place we ever stayed at Disney. :wizard:

Will we like OKW? Is it really that much better or nicer than POFQ?

I've heard the villas are large, which is nice but we're getting a studio as there are only 3 of us. I've also heard that the design makes it feel more like condos than a hotel, which honestly isn't very appealing to me. And while the feature pool looks nice, the slide looks way to big/long for DD to even consider - but the sand play area does look right up her alley.

WWYD??

kids love OKW castle slide.

It isn't too long - might be a little too fast. but kids just seem to love it.

how old is your child?

if above 5 - definitely OKW.

5 to 3 - toss up

3 and under - POFQ

all the pools at OKW have a playground, hot tub, picinic area.

the studios have a kitchennett - which is pretty wonderful when you want to save on food.

and the best yet - OKW has 2 queen beds, POFQ has double beds, OKW has a balcony - POFQ does NOT.

where did you find such a great rate for OKW?

Spiceycat - I've been looking at your OKW photos as I try to make up my mind! Thanks for posting your photos, they're beautiful! :thumbsup2

DD is 5. She loved the pool at POFQ - the pool itself more than the slide, actually. She also likes walking to the food court at night to get hot chocolate in her mug. I'm guessing OKW doesn't have mugs if they don't have a food court?

It's possible that she may get her fill of that while we're at WL for the first half of the trip - I just can't decide if we should try something new or go with what we already know and like so much.

The rate I got ($164 + tax on a studio) is an AP rate valid July 1 - Aug. 4.

You don't need a food court to have mugs, I believe every resort has them.

they have mugs - but they are definitely a pain. you have to wait for the CM at 'goodies food to go' - to fill them.

I know there is tea and coffee in the studio - don't remember about hot chocolate.

try it! if you don't like oKW then back to POFQ. but try it first - you won't know if it suites your family or not until you give it a try.

OKW is definitely more relaxing.

after a tiring day at the parks you will enjoy relaxing in the hot tub at the closest pool.

the laundry mat at OKW is free. the detergent and fabric softernor are not - definitely bring some if you don't have a car.

I don't think you can go wrong with either resort - they are each my favorite in their classes (OKW for the DVC resort, POF for the moderate resort). I think I'd recommend POF in this case, but either would be great.

If you stay at OKW, you really don't need the refillable mugs. Just fill up your refrigerator with all your favorite beverages.
