Hey everyone...
I need some advice for our family vacation this year. Originally we booked OKW for the first week of August and put ourselves on a wait list for HHI. Well HHI called today and there is an opening. We've been to WDW over 20 times and have never been to HHI. What do you suggest we do? Will we be bored at HHI? What kinds of activities are there to do during the day and night? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!! :)

Alyssa

HH is a golf resort, so if you play golf that is the place to stay.

Actually I would not consider Disney's Hilton Head resort a golf resort as they don't have a golf course on property. Yes there are many golf courses at Hilton Head but many other things do to.

First, it is not an amusement park. As long as you don't expect it to be Disney World I can't imagine anyone being bored at Hilton Head. Hilton Head Island is the number one repeat destination in the US for familes, even over Disney World. Something must keep people coming back.

The beach is wonderful, there are many activities planned at the resort during the summer, biking, shopping, horseback riding, canoeing, kayaking, dophin tours, and much more.

We go often and never play golf except the minature version.

We've been to Disney 6 times and HHI twice in the past year. We love it so much- it's all the Disney without the theme parks, if that makes any sense. A truly relaxing, wonderful resort with lots of activities if you wish to participate (adults too!) If you call the resort they can fax you an activity sheet so you can see what they offer, which is a lot.

Hilton Head Island itself is a gem- we don't golf but we go to the beach and bike ride and really enjoy ourselves.

Give it a try, you won't regret it.

HHI is also home to some of the best cast members ever.
though there is not an onsite restuarant, there are 100's on the island to chose from. (and there are only a few chains, so your dinning will be unique each time.) I would take the HHI . it will be hard to get in Aug. Right now southern school systems are going back to school in last week of July and 1st of Aug. Some states are trying to pass laws to say that you cant go back until last week in Aug or 1st of Sep. When they pass (it will, because it is killing the beach economy) it will be even harder to get Aug. dates in the future.

Also, remember that as there are more and more DVC members, there will probably be lots more people trying to get to HH at the 7-month window. Grab that cleared waitilist while you can!!

Go for Hilton Head. Only be prepared to want points there, because you'll want to go back every year. ;)

Easy choice-HHI. We visited HHI last summer and loved the beauty. We had a wonderful time with our teenagers, plus no theme park tickets to buy.

We leave in 2 weeks from today for our 3rd year in a row at HH. The first year my DD (then 6) cried the night before we left HH because she loved it so much. To me, that said it all.

We joined because we love DW, but we're absolutely CRAZY about HH. There is no place more relaxing with tons to do. There is something for everyone there---kids of all ages and adults. You can just relax at the beach and pool, or you can go bikeriding, rent jet skis, go parasailing, go horsback riding, go crabbing, go fishing, rent kayaks, go on a nature hike, take a boat excursion to see dolphins up close and participating in the many, many Disney programs available to kids (crafts, parades, storytime, cooking classes, wine tastings, nature walks, sing-alongs at the campfire complete with yummy s'mores). And that's just the Disney programs. The area has wonderful restaurants and cultural programs and is very family oriented. I know it's supposed to be a golf destination (and some day I hope to enjoy that aspect of the island), but it's a family-oriented playground. Honestly, we love every minute of it.

I think we should stop telling everyone how great HH is, it's getting too crowded and more difficult to get in during the summer. We're going three times this year and added on points!

Everyone - GO TO WDW!

We're going the first week of August, our first trip to HH and we can't wait. I would love information on renting jet skis. Where is the best place to rent and cost. Thanks!

We almost the same problem for a reservation at the end of August...

We had the opportunity to end our trip at OKW, but then our waitlist for HHI came through and we couldn't resist... Since we are driving down, staying at HHI will actually reduce our drive when its time to come home...

If HHI is anything like VB, I have a hunch that we may be doing another add on.... :teeth: :teeth:
