Taking the family to OKW for the first time. We usually have been at the Poly. Will we like OKW as well? Also, which building and floor would be best.. Close to a pool (not the main one) and transportation?

We have done both and like OKW better. Brighter, bigger. Transo is my only area of concern. We waited for busses at the resort and the parks for quite a while (25 minutes on average). Buildings 11-13 and 62-64 are close to the HH and big pool. But we liked our room in 52. Ducks visited our patio area every morning for breakfast. Try it! 52 was close to quiet pool and bus stop was right outside.

There are five bus stops at OKW. That building mentioned is in the South Pointe area. It is near one of the pools and very nice. We enjoy that area a lot especially when we are near the water ways and can enjoy the ducks and bunnies from our porch. Another nice area which is near a pool is Turtle Pond. It is farther away from the front of the resort, so if you don't have your own car, you would have to catch one of the buses to the front.

Everyone has their own likes or dislikes for floors. We prefer the first floor only because it is a pain to carry the stroller up and down the stairs and my kids love to feed the ducks from the back porch. But, being on the first floor you can hear "little footie steps" above you which could be bothersome if you are trying to sleep.

I have not stayed at the Poly, but I think once you stay in one of the villas at OKW, you may not want to go back to a regular hotel room again! You should enjoy your stay at OKW!

if you are staying in a 1-bedroom and up - yes you will love it - if you are staying in a studio - well maybe!

OKW is a nice resort, it is very quiet and laid back and has a very large 1 BR, the studios are just like a hotel room with a small kitchenette attached, actually the rooms at the Poly are larger than the studio at OKW and have bedding for 5 people vs the bedding for 4 at a OKW studio, but the Poly room does not have the kitchenette. One thing you will definitely notice between the two resorts is that OKW is not located in a convenient location like the Poly is. At the Poly you can take a monorail or walk to MK, take a monorail to Epcot and then a bus to MGM and AK, at OKW unless you have a car you will be taking the bus everywhere and the buses usually run about 20-25 minutes apart, but are rarely crowded and you can usually always get a seat. When we stay at OKW I request a room close to the Hospitality House which houses the restaurant, gift shop, the main pool is there and also the pool bar and snack bar. OKW is huge so if you get a building far back in the resort you will either have to take a bus or have a long walk if you want to go to the store, restaurant etc in the HH. Buildings 62 -63 are the only buildings with an elevator and they are close to the HH. There is also a boat that runs to DTD until 9:45 PM. I have stayed at both resorts and if I had a 1 BR then I would prefer OKW for the large unit if I had an OKW studio then I would prefer the Poly room, but I like being in a conveniently located resort that is easy to get to and from parks, restaurants, etc and OKW does not fit in this category.
