OKW: How is the bus transportation?

Hi All Disneygoers,

I am planning my second annual girls trip and we are wanting to try a new resort each time we go. Any opinions on the OKW bus transportation? Does it go to several other results? Are there long waits between buses? Etc., etc., etc.

Thanks for any opinions.

i've only stayed at OKW once - last year.

OKW does not share buses. i went in early december, so wdw was fairly uncrowded, but i never had to wait for an OKW bus. the buses do make several stops within the resort, depending on when you board, so it might take 10 minutes or so to get out of OKW (or more if there are wheelchairs, etc. involved.)

i left my car parked out front all week, but people differ...

I've had more than 20 stays at OKW and never had a problem with the buses (apart from the often-freezing temperatures within but I guess that's not just an OKW issue ;) ). Sure, occasionally there is a wait of more than 15 minutes but overall I've found buses pretty good.

If, however, you are getting on the bus at South Point (furthest away from OKW entrance) you can definitely be on the bus 10 minutes before it even leaves the resort as another poster said.

OTOH, the one time I tried the buses at ASM made me yearn for OKW :)

We are frequent flyers at OKW....there are no buses shared with other resorts and the bus service there is as good as it is at any of the other WDW resorts. There are 5 internal bus stops so if you are near stop 1 (Peninsular Road) you will always get a seat on the way to the parks, but you have to make 4 more stops before leaving the resort. If you board at the 5th stop (Hospitality House) you may have to stand if the bus is crowded but you go straight to the parks....same on the return...Peninsular Rd gets off first, HH last....we always bus it to the parks and just use the car when we go offsite or to another resort for meals.

Thanks all for your comments.:) OKW looks like our next adventure.

If I stay near Peninsular Road, I'll get off the bus there since it's the first stop usually, but when I am leaving OKW to bus somewhere else I will walk to the Hospitality House, buy a Diet Coke, and board there. The two stops are quite close to one another and it means I don't have to spend 10 minutes on the bus.

On the other hand, it's possible the bus could be full by the time it gets to HH, but I don't remember that happening enough so that I couldn't board the bus. I probably had to stand sometimes.

Since you said this is an "all girls" trip, I thought I'd mention a little something about the bathroom in a studio:
The bathroom sink and mirror are in the bathroom and not in a seperate area outside of the bathtub/toilet area.
It makes it a little bit hard to get ready in the mornings.

But the bus service is fine!
