OKW Housekeeping nightmare

Just wondered if anyone has had any problems with house keeping with regard to Trash and Towel day?

We checked in on December 27th and according to our reservations and the CM checking us in we would receive Trash and Towel on December 30th. We called on December 30th and no trash and towel, called on December 31 and again no trash and towel, called on January 1st (one day before we checked out) and asked for a manager. The person I talked to indicated that they would take care of it. We came back at 3:00 PM that day on the 1st and still had no clean towels. At this point I was really upset to say the least. I mean is this not what we pay dues for? I complained again and finally they came and did our trash and towel. Was I too easy on them or should I have been more persistent?

Any thoughts? Anyone else having these problems? :confused3

I've never had a problem with housekeeping not showing up on their designated days, for T&T or a full cleaning. I'm sorry you had problems...it is not the norm from our experience. I guess I'd attribute it to the holidays, but it still should not have happened. No I don't think you were "too persistent." I probably would have been a little miffed too, if I'd been in a studio without fresh towels. If I'd been in a larger unit, I'd have thrown the towels in the washer/dryer.
 
This happened to us at BVC, just once, but a call to mouse keeping and it was quickly resolved.
 
I was staying at OKW over the holidays and was supposed to receive trash & tidy on the 27th but didn't. In fact, no one ever showed up for trash & tidy during our stay. Perhaps they thought the 6 calls I made to housekeeping for missing items - potholders, cookie sheet, wine glass (just one would have been nice), hand mixer-potato masher-or-blender(hard to make mashed potatoes without one of those three but they were "out" of them and didn't think they would be able to find one on Christmas Eve...which is apparently code for "too lazy to find one of those three items in another room somewhere else in the resorts"), vegetable peeler, and broiler pan. Thankfully they managed to have a corkscrew in the room and I had to foresight to bring wine...lots of wine.

The quality has gone down drastically since the resort opened...back in the days of only 3 buildings and having to use the Treehouse bus service.

My personal favorite upgrade is the wall in the laundry room/master bath. Nothing says love like a knock on the door at 3am from the person using the sofa bed who now desperately needs to use the restroom.
 

Welcome to the DIS boards BareSun Bunny. It's a shame your first post has such a negative tone,and that you had an unfortunate experience at OKW. Some folks just don't take care of our home away from home, or steal everything that isn't bolted down. :(
 
We had no such problems during our early-December visit -- in fact, I thought housekeeping and engineering did a great job of resolving the two minor issues we had. One was fixed within five minutes, and the other -- a plumbing problem at night -- took less than an hour from first and only call to complete fix.

We did fill up the trash cans prior to our T&T day, but the larger cans just outside our front door resolved that with a minimum of effort on our part.

I'm not sure I would call the lack of towel/trash a nightmare, but it is certainly uncalled for. I would contact someone at DVC and complain.
 
We stayed at OKW Dec 27th to Jan 1st and had no problem with our T&T service. They came on Dec 30th.. We have been members since 1997 and the only time we had a problem with T&T is when we forgot they were coming that day and left the "Do Not Disturb" sign out, but we had a nice msg from housekeeping saying if we needed towels please give them a call.
They is always going to be some problems because people make mistakes......

I know that it would be irritating but I dont think it is a Nightmare.We never let them do T&T.I always wash all of our towels and washcloths.We are not in the room enough to have alot of trash.Maybe a water bottle or something like that.
I am sorry about your experience but I truly dont see it being a nightmare.
 
I have to agree it would NOT have been a nightmare for me either. I would have taken my trash down to the trash room and thrown the towels in the washer before I left for the day. We just got back from a 10 night trip to OKW, and had two different rooms. Everything was great in both of them, and trash and towel and full cleanings were on time. The only negetive was that on the full cleaning day, the housekeeper knocked on our door at 9 AM. I laughed it off and said she just blew her tip. That is the first time we have ever had a housekeeping knock at OKW.
 
I (We) don't "mind" T&T days, and we do "expect" them. In December a Mousekeeper knocked on the door of our studio at VWL, and she told us that we should put in the "privacy please" sign if we were in the room and not wanting T&T at that time. So we did that, and took it out when we left the room and came back to clean towels.

I am sorry that you didn't get the T&T. Perhaps I would have walked down to the front desk and talked to someone face to face. I suppose you never know whom you are talking to when you talk on the telephone.

I agree. I also cancel T&T. My dh takes out the trash every morning, and I don't mind washing towels. I guess we just like our privacy. :)
 
Have always had great housekeeping at OKW. We even had towel animals waiting on arrival on 12/25/05 and had no problem with towel/trash on appropriate day. Mistakes do happen and I would say OKW, in general, was the issue.

Actually,we dont even get the full clean day.I had just rather do things myself,I just dont care to have someone in my room.So my privacy hanger stays on our door from the time we check in till the time we leave.I call and cancel all services.
 
We were staying at the BCV's over the same time period and didn't get T&T either....I called and reported it to housekeeping and they brought them. I happen to be of the belief we shouldn't have to call to remind housekeeping of this, jmo.

Given the occupancy rates during the holidays, isn't BSBunny advocating taking these items from other Guests? How rude... Maybe they wanted to make mashed potatoes as well? Maybe BSBunny was too busy cooking the 9 course meal to hop to one of the neighbors and ask if they had a mixer in their room? What a farce...

I will be staying at OKW from 1/29 - 2/3 in a studio. I don't think the trash would be so hard to handle as we usually take the trash out ourselves but I would be upset with not having clean towels. Hope that doesn't happen when we are there.

But if it does, just hop on down to one of the pools and throw your towels and any other white laundry you have in a machine and start it. The washer and dryer are free, but look like coin-op ones. your only cost will be $1 for a box of detergent.

Same exact problem last September. I emailed DVC MS to complain. 2 Weeks goes by, no response. I sent another emailing them to complain about thier lack of response. Amazingly, I got a call. She was probably regreting a live phone call. But from what I've been hearing, none of this is uncommon. They just don't care anymore.
 
The housekeeping issues members in this thread have experienced might not be a nightmare to each person, but they are what I refer to as "lack of attention to detail." Over the course of the last year I have chatted with the head of housekeeping at OKW & with the General Manager of OKW about my experiences. I have been a member for over twelve years. One or two issues might be ok, but when there are multiple issues, someone needs to be aware of the "lack of attention to detail."

I did not read BareSunBunny's post to mean she was asking that the needed items be taken from someone else. OKW & SSR share a warehouse of items, & somewhere, somehow someone should have been able to find one of those items.

See that is my point, it was not really a nightmare, the nightmare was how many times I had to call. The issue with not washing them ourselves was that we were in a studio and we had already done our laundry day that we needed to do. We have experienced this problem on our last three stays at OKW. I did email MS and am still awaiting a response. Hopefully I will get one not that it will make much difference but hopefully it will impress upon them that we are watching and that we do care about the investment that we have made. :earsboy:
