Hi there,

We are currently trying to decide between doing a 2 bedroom plus a studio at AKV Jambo, or a grand villa at OKW for a trip with my husbands family. Any opinions are appreciated. I’m leaning towards AKV because this is a first time trip for his family and the resort is so immersive, but my husband is leaning towards the OKW grand villa so we can all share the same space. I have a couple concerns about the OKW grand villa though as we have small children. Is it possible to request a baby gate for the stairs? Also, do all the grand villas have a first floor entrance? We will have a double stroller so I’m concerned with trying to haul it up flights of stairs. Thanks everyone!

If you're a DVC member looking to book at 7 months, sharing your trip dates might make discussion really simple. Those cheap grand villas are very popular and there are times when the odds of them slipping to 7 mos are remote.

If non-owner, finding someone with OKW points who is prepared to rent 10-11 months before arrival may also be necessary.

We were in a OKW Grand Villa 3 months ago. Unfortunately, most of the Grand Villas have the entrance on the second floor, and are second and third floors. The only way to get the entrance you (and I) need, you have to book a HA villa. That has a roll-in shower off the Master Bedroom, but the other baths are regular tubs and/or showers. Otherwise, it was pretty "normal". There are 3 HA Grand Villas-1 on the first floor, the other two are in elevator building 63. And yes, I'm pretty sure you can ask for a baby gate, although we didn't. BTW, the only one on the first floor is in building 48.

I am a dvc member. I understand the availability issues and am prepared to adjust dates and waitlist. I’m just curious about thoughts on the actual resorts themselves for bringing first timers as well as the logistical questions.

Thanks so much! This pretty much makes AKV the clear winner. I appreciate it.
