Does anyone know if the OKW GVs have been refurbed yet? I have never stayed in one and looked at the pics online. The pics aren’t too terribly exciting. I don’t want to judge a book by its cover though. When I saw pics of BLT online, I hated it. When I saw it in person, I really liked it. If anyone has stayed in one, please let me know your thoughts on them. Thanks.

Hey TC, we stayed in 2016 and loved it. it was our first time staying on property and first time in a DVC resort, and we were only 5 adults, so factor that observational position into my comments. It certainly showed need of updating but was still nice and comfortable. The space is terrific. A very large kitchen with island, large dining table and large common area. I think if you were going to push towards full capacity or have multiple children it’s a great option, especially if cooking in the unit which we did do. Also, it’s the only resort we can think of with a “sit at” table and chairs on the balcony if that is a call at all. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay again and were planning to but we have enough points to book our home resort GV (SSR) at 11 mo for an upcoming trip so we will. At the point cost it is a great deal and probably hard to get a lot of the time. Downsides would be possible poor proximity to the feature pool, all second floor entries AFAIK and a resort with a multiple bus stop loop. But, none of those things made our stay at all unenjoyable. We were in building 49, had some noise from the nearby road but not too bad, and that South point bus stop was the first pick up so we never had any issues getting on, but had to ride through the other resort stops going and coming.

Thank you for your info. had a WL come through which means we now have all 4 nights in a Savanna view 2-bedroom. It’ll just be my mom, my 2 kids, my sister and her two kids, and me. The plan is to have my 2 kids sleep in the living room on the pull outs. My sister and her two kids will sleep in the 2nd bedroom, and my mom and I will sleep in the master. I’m wondering if it is worth the extra 46 points even if the WL for the GV at OKW comes through. What do you think? AKV savanna view 2-bedroom or OKW GV?

Don't know about the refurb schedule as I'm not keeping up, but as a very longtime OKW owner, I have stayed in the GV's on numerous occasions, and I think they are awesome! They are huge, with lots of great common area space as Spartan described, and they are a killer deal on points. I have stayed in GV's at a number of DVC resorts that have them, and the than the Beach Cottages at Vero (which are spectacular, and individual homes) and the GV's at Aulani, for me, OKW GV's are my favorite. When one considers the size and the points cost, they are pretty hard to beat.

I find the bus system a lot better at OKW than my GFV stays when we had to catch a bus. That was awful IMO. LONG walk to the bus station from the villas, and a very, very long wait for a bus that THEN had to stop at the Poly as well! :scared: :crazy2:

We have stayed in AKV savannah view GV as well. Super nice but way more pricey. If you were to stay in a Kidani 2 bedroom, at least you would have the 3rd bathroom off of the entry way. :cutie:

That’s a tough one. The GV would give more personal space, but the two bedroom has that savanna view and nice long balcony and does have the third bathroom, assuming Kidani. Also you would have pool proximity there that could be potentially lacking at OKW. How would the 46 points affect later bookings for you etc.? Hard one to call.

It is Kidani with the extra bathroom. We would have to borrow 20 points for the GV versus having and extra 26 for banking with the 2-bedroom.

While I liked the OKW GV the 3 bedroom with the two standard beds is a problem if you want to put a family with two adults and kids, standard beds now are just too small. If would be nice if they could kit at least one queen in that room.

Thanks everyone for your input. We all talked about it, and we decided to stick with the Savanna view 2-bedroom at AKV. We thought it would be really neat for the kids to see the animals. Confession, I also want to see them outside my window/balcony. ;) Also, that extra bathroom for all of us will be super nice compared to all other 2-bedrooms except for BLT. I’ve never stayed at AKV and am looking forward to it. :)

Great choice! Our entire family loved our Kidani savanna view experience!

I really loved the decor of AKV. The master bathroom is gigantic!

Make sure you put in a room request to be as close to the lobby as possible. The hallways there can go on forever and ever.
