Seems all I do is plan , plan LOL. We are planning to take our grandson for his first trip in June 2009. He will have just turned 2. We will also be bringing his mom(DD) and dad, (both teachers) the reason we are doing June, our DS and his wife. We thought a 2 bdrm at AKV would be ok since it has 3 bathrooms, but I would really love a grand villa at OKW! Any chance? June 21-27.TIA

Anything is possible, of course, since OKW has more GVs than other resorts. You surely will need to call day-by-day at 7 months and be prepared to waitlist for some days. It would be good if you have enough points to book the AKV 2 bedroom and keep that reservation until you have the GV for all of the days. Good luck!

I think you will have a group of 5, correct?
Personally, I would do a 2 BR. Don't get me wrong, I love the OKW Grand Villas. We went in September and had a group that fluxed from 7-12. On the smaller end of the group, the space was kid of a waste of points. As you can tell, I am a points horder!

What would you be doing with the extra bedroom of a GV? A GV will have 4 bathrooms, three bedrooms and beds for 12 people. I would go with the 2 bedroom for 5 people. You will have plenty of space.

There will be 6 adults and the 2 y.o.

Okay, I missed that. In that case, yes, a GV would be nice, but a 2 bedroom at OKW would be plenty of room. At the other resorts, maybe not.

with a 2 bed though, how would you arrange the sleeping.

Son & Wife
Daughter, Husband, Child.

it's ok to say there are 6 adults, but there are 3 family groupings. I love my mum and dad but I can't see me & DH sharing a room with them on vacation!! So the alternative is someone sleeps on the sofa bed which seems kinda harsh to that couple when the other 2 families have their own rooms.

I mention this as I am planning a trip with my relatives, and have found the same issue - it's not the number of beds, it's the number of 'private' spaces that is an issue.

Why not get a two-bedroom and a studio? Or a two bedroom and a one-bedroom? Or even 2 two-bedrooms?

Any of these options takes fewer points than a grand villa (only the two-bedroom/studio combo takes fewer at OKW) and would free up your choices since all the resorts have studios, one-bedrooms, and two-bedrooms, but only four (on property) have grand villas! And you get more square footage with 2 two-bedrooms than you would with a grand villa!

The only down side is that you may not all be right next door to each other, although if you request it several months out and you link the reservations together the odds are in your favor. And hey, maybe not being right next door is a good thing sometimes!
