OKW first timers...

Which building should I request? I looked at the map but the golf course and the paths are a little confusing to me. Can we use the cart paths for walking? I would like to be near the main building and pool, but I have no problem with a little walking either. Thanks.

I'm a new DVC member and we stayed at OKW during our recent trip in October. We absolutely loved the resort. The grounds are well maintained, have beautiful theming, and large rooms. We requested a building near the main lobby but received a room in the Turtle Pond area. The building was somewhat of a walk to the main lobby but we had a bus stop directly in front of our building. There are several bus stops throughout the resort so you won't have to walk far to take a bus to the parks. I guess I'm lazy but anytime we were walking to the main lobby we would hitch a ride from one of the cast members as they passed by on the resort golf carts. They happily gave us a ride every time we stuck our thumb out! Have a good trip.

To us, there are no bad buildings at OKW--of course, we've been owners there for almost 11 years.

In answer to your question, No, you can't use the golf cart paths for walking.

All the roads have sidewalks and there is a path that will take you to SSR (probably a 10 minute walk).

Keep in mind that the in older buildings--most by the Hospitality House/Main Pool--have only one entrance to the bathroom in a 1 BR villa, and that's from the Master Bed Room.

Most mornings when we're there, I walk. Usually from our villa over to SSR and back and then through OKW to the Hospitaity House for newspapers. Never used the cart paths, though.

We have stayed in the 22-26 buildings x2 & they are very close to the main pool & the hospitality house. Also bus stop is right there. Have a great time. i think you will enjoy okw. it is one of my favorite resorts. Heading there 1/22-29.

We too don't think there are any really BAD buildings at OKW. As for the golf paths...no walking on them, they are for the golf course only. One exception is an abandoned golf cart path behind building 55 that goes to DTD.

Don't worry about walking to the lobby. First of all, there isn't much reason to have to go there very often anyway, and you are always as close as the nearest bus stop. ALL buses stop at the Hospitality House last, so you can use the first one that comes along to get to the lobby area should you need to go there.
