What section would your request and why? I know virtually nothing about OKW..

It depends on your personal preferences. Do you want to be near the Hospitality House area? This area includes Bldgs 11 to 14 and 23 to 26, it is near the check-in area, main pool, boat to Dtd and Restaurant. But it is also not a request, near Hospitality House is now a guaranteed booking category, like Boardwalk View at BWV. It takes the same number of ponts as the rest of OKW.

Personally, we like the Turtle Pond and South Point areas. You can hop on any park bus to take you to Hospitality House. Turtle Pond is the nicest of the 3 quiet pools, though all the quiet pools have hot tubs & sandy childrens' play areas. Areas away from Hospitality will be quieter and more relaxed.

Also, if you are in a one bedroom unit, there was a design change during construction. Buildings 30 and above have an entrance to the bathroom through the laundry room and the master bedroom. In buildings 29 and lower, the bathroom entrance is through the Master Bedroom only. Depending upon the demographics of your party, it could be a problem for lighter sleepers in the lower buildings if someone on the sleeper sofa has to "go" during the night.

the views are golf, water and woods

you can request near HH (this is now guaranteed if you get it), pool or bus stop.

you decide what you want.

my favorite is 55 in South pointe or 18 miller road.

the names are the road names.

There are so many good buildings at OKW, that it would be easier for me to say which ones I don't like instead of which ones I do. Love anything on the canal, and we like most of Miller's Road and also like building 15 a lot. That being said, 45, 46, & 55 are our absolute favorites

Why exactly are 45, 46 and 55 your favourites?

I could tell you what section I like, but that may not match up with your likes/dislikes. Why don't you tell us what's important to you and we can give you advice that may be more useful.

The HH view is actually a benefit to us because we would never, ever want one of the buildings directly across the street from the HH. If you drive and leave the resort for the morning, you can come back and not be able to find a parking place near your building. Lots of guests will drive from their building over to the HH to swim or dine or visit the Community Center and there aren't that many parking places near the HH. So they overflow over to Bldgs 11, 12, 13, 14, 62 and 63.

We stayed in Bldg 46 last time and it was very nice. Before that we often stayed in the Turtle Pond area (we've been in Bldg 35 a few times, also Bldg 36).

We usually just request water view, higher floor. We don't mind taking the stairs since there are no elevators.

Could someone tell me if building 62 is in the near HH category? My sister said a CM told her that the elevator buildings were all in the HH category now. I really thought she was wrong but she was adamant about it. TIA

We like Turtle Pond, but there really are no bad areas. We have stayed pretty much everywhere at OKW and have enjoyed every unit we've stayed in.

Was it a Member Services CM? I've had them tell me ALL the buildings have elevators. :sad2: I realize that some Member Services CMs work from home, and some may even be "temps" during busy times at a contract call center no where near Florida, but some of them really don't have a clue about resort layout, or what buildings or specific areas are in the booking categories. The truth is, the elevator buildings are, of course, physically located "near HH," but by all reports, they are not in that special booking category. They are often used for those with mobility limitations, especially the Grand Villas, as there is only one ground floor GV at OKW.

We would like a nice view and close to the pool and food. I have 2 young children and we are planning a lot of downtime at the pool and just relaxing. Is there a map that I can view anywhere?

Actually, she said it was a woman that claimed to have been there for 20 years. She said that the "category" had been expanded to include the 3 elevator buidings and (not in these exact words) there has been some "backlash" from special interest groups concerning this matter. From what I what I have read here on The Dis, I stood my ground on this. But I am wondering if I might have to eat crow in February.

Hope it is okay to add to this question. We are renting a two-bedroom condo for a trip with my family (us, two kids) and my in-laws (78,81). Can we actually ask for a building? I think it would probably be better for my f-i-l if he could walk to the HH to get the paper, etc. (Don't see him going to the parks in the a.m.) Looked at the map you suggested. Would 23-39 work for us? Any help/suggestions would be much appreciated. Trying to make this special as this is the first trip for my in-laws in a long time, and the thermometer is ready -2 degrees (f) today!

There are two guaranteed booking categories at OKW. They take the same number of points, but must be part of the initial reservation. Near HH category is buildings 11 to 14 and 23 to 26. The other category is simply the rest of the resort.

You can request specific buildings within your booking category, but they are not guaranteed. There are USA Today newspaper machines at the bus stops, and often by the the pools.
