OKW Elevator?

I've been reading feedback regarding OKW and it sounds like this resort doesn't have an elevator. Is this accurate? We have a 6 month old with a stroller and was wondering how we are supposed to get to an upstairs room?

There are 3 buildings with elevators. You can request "first floor or an elevator building." That's what we do, and we have gotten what we've asked for twice, out of two times.

There are lots of units that don't have stairs to them. All first floor units and all units in buildings 62, 63, and 64. Now, that being said....If my early 60's DH with horrible arthritic knees doesn't mind the low rise stairs at OKW, it probably shouldn't bother many others either. Does your stroller fold? If so, it wont be a problem, and you can always request a first floor or elevator building. Just be aware that a first floor unit could put you under a GV with 12 people running around on noisy hardwood floors.

If you get an elevator building, be sure to ask if the elevator is working. Last March the elevator in our building did not work the entire 12 days we were there.

Yikes! That would be a bummer if you really needed the elevator!

Oh yes, I remember that trip report...Well, the next time we want OKW, I'll just ask for 1st floor. We had a first floor 1 bedroom once and it was perfect!

Thank you for the feedback indicating that buildings 62, 63, and 64 have elevators. Are these buildings near the lobby and bus stop area?

Looks like you'll be using the steps

Very much like NY City walk up apartments (I fondly remember lugging 50 lbs. worth of groceries up the stairs). It isn't ideal, but you get by.

Based on requests, Bldg 62, 63 and 64 would need to be the size of the VWL to hold all the people who want to stay in those buildings. Plan on being in another building and taking the steps.

I have to agree that requesting "elevator buildings" is going to be a tough request to fill when so many request that. On top of that, one of those elevator buildings is home to a couple of GV's so that takes space out too. We often need a first floor or elevator to accommodate an ECV, but we have never had any trouble getting that.

I hope we don't have any trouble this weekend. We're checking in for our first trip to OKW on Sunday and we really want a 1st floor room. My DS11 has trouble with too many stairs and we will likely rent a wheelchair for him at the parks. I tried to cover my bases and had them put First Floor needed for Medical Reasons on our reservation along with Request near HH and Request near Elevator.
