At OKW, I understand that there is no daily maid service. What about towels and toiletries?

At the Values, there are shampoo and soap dispensers in the showers...very convenient.

We use alot of towels, is there a Housekeeping service to call for more towels, hair dryer, shampoo, etc.?

Thanks for always giving such quick responses!!

You must be renting points from a DVC member. If you rent a room at OKW for cash via CRO, you do get daily maid service.

When you rent, you get Trash & Towel service on day 4 and if you stay longer than 7 nights, you get a full cleaning on day 4 and T&T service on day 8. (Day 1 is considered check in day). When you check in, you will get a "start up" supply of soap/shampoo, coffee, sweeteners & cream. On T&T day, you will get a fresh set of towels, the trash will be emptied and the "supplies" replenished.

If you want daily maid service, you can purchase it (fee for a studio is $25 for each day the service is requested). There are free washers and dryers (near the pools, I believe) if you want/need to wash towels or anything else. You can also get an extra set of towels for $6. There is a hair dryer in every studio (along with a toaster, coffeemaker, microwave oven and a small refrigerator). The "mini-kitchen" also includes a sink, ceramic mugs and paper plates/plastic ware for 4.

Personally, I like not having daily maid service. No worries about being out of the room for cleaning or wondering when housekeeping will be there if I want a nap or to sleep in. It only takes a minute to make a bed. We either wash towels or hang them up and reuse them. As mentioned, if you'd rather not do either of those, you can get an extra set (4 bath, 4 hand, 4 wash clothes and a bath mat) for $6.

We always bring along our own coffee and filters because only 1 pack of regular and 1 pack of decaf is provided, We need lots more than that! I also bring my own soap/shampoo so I can save the Mickey stuff for my neices and nephews.

HTH. Ask again if you need more info!

Thanks for that awesome reply! Answered all of our questions except one that we didn't ask!

Are there towels at the pools, do we rent them, or bring our own?

TIA

Yes, there are towels at the pools (no charge). No need to bring your own.

firecracker - we rented DVC points in Nov. 2002 & had all the same questions you did before going. I thought for sure we would run out of soap, etc. & couldn't imagine not having fresh towels daily while on vacation (just something I enjoy:) ).

We had more than enough supplies & in fact got extra soap from a housekeeper walking by, which we didn't even need. We took fresh towels from the pool every day for our showers, which was fine.

Have a great time. We loved OKW & bought a resale upon returning home. :bounce:

We also rented points to visit OKW in Nov. and had an awesome time!!! You will love it!!

Have an awesome visit! :)

Add us to to the "WE LOVED IT" at OKW we had a studio for 5 days and actually on day 3 i called and said don't send housekeeping till we check out.. I thought i was silly for then to come on day 4 and completely clean then come again on day 5 !! We only took pool towels one day - we returned then the next am into the dirty bin. It was kinda like being at home .
We were down in the turtle pond area which has a pool snack bar, shuffle board, a playground and FREE laundry.. It was great we would do it again

Does anyone know what kind of rates CRO has for OKW. I've checked the internet and of course there is never any availability and I have checked with CRO and was told that they could not give me any rates or availability until 6 months before the dates that I would be there to make sure DVC owners would not be occupying the rooms. Well of course I'm not waiting that long to book a room. We are travelling with 5 in Oct. and would love to know if this would be an option for us.

Usually rates for DVC properties are higher than renting points from an owner. I would check the rent/trade board now. Average price is about $10 per point. Points per night are different, depending on what time of year you want to go.

With that in mind........... If you need 8 points for a weekday stay in a studio during October, it would be $80 a night. It is about 21 on the weekend, which would be $210 a night. There is no tax on points rented from DVC owners. (someone correct me if I'm wrong)

JMO, but I would check renting first.

If I rent from a DVC owner I can not take advantage of my CM rate if I go through CRO then I can, if they will even discount OKW.

I don't know what your CM discount is, but it looks like a studio at OKW in October is about $316 a night (that includes tax).

That may give you a better idea of whether to rent or just go through CRO.

Have fun planning. :D
