I checked into OKW last Sunday, December 1. I arrived a little after 12 noon. The whole process - from the moment I walked in until the time I walked out with a room - was about 12 minutes. I was about number 6 in line. There were 6 or 7 CMs working the front desk. Another CM handed out packets to guests in line who were checking in. As a member I think that is very efficient service!
The "new" check-in is not necessarily first come first served. It is being tested so that if rooms are ready, members are not waiting for another room. I have heard from more than one reliable DVC source that some guests were making way too many requests or too specific of a request & it is getting out of hand. I was assured by all that I spoke to that non-smoking/smoking & any medical reasons are still honored. However, if you want the room with the bedroom to the left facing such & such golf green, on the top floor of builing such & such & at the right end of the building, then I would not hold my breath
