OKW..can I ask for your help again?

Hi everyone. We're checking into OKW Sunday . We'll have 8 in our party and could REALLY use a renovated 2 bedroom for the sleeper chair. I've read that some of the buildings that have been remodeled have not so desirable views. Since we are bringing some WDW newbies and the rest of us spend alot of time on the balconies, we would LOVE a water view ( just typing this I feel like I'm pushing my luck!) I have very poor luck when it comes to room requests and I only ever ask for very broad requests such as resort section. I'm going to call MS today and request certain buildings. Any advice which have been renovated and have waterviews?? TIA

Instead of requesting specific buildings, state your preferences in order. Something like: "Renovated room, water view" should get you what you want. Doing it that way tells the room assigner exactly what is important to you. Just giving them a building number wouldn't do that.

Also, be aware that because of building design, not all units in a building would have the same water view. Another reason not to request a specific building.

I heard that some of the buildings on Turtle Pond Road have been renovated. Turtle Pond Road has great waterviews, I've had them in 31, 37 & 43.

We stayed in a refurbished 1-bedroom in July (Building 43). When I placed my requests I put them in order of importance "1-refurbished unit, 2-third floor". Upon arrival before I could mention that I had placed requests I was told that they had placed us in a refurbished unit but no third floor ones were available so we would be getting a 2nd floor unit which was fine.

Our balcony look directly onto a lake/pond but a tree pretty much obscured the view of the lake completely. When I looked at the units surrounding the lake it appeared that this was true for all of them.

My suggestion would be to request a "refurbished unit with an unobstructed water view" or possibly request a refurb on the first floor. The unit below us had a view of the lake without the upper part of the tree blocking the view.

You also might have some better luck if you are checking in earlier in the day at least before noon. Your room might not be ready but a chance of getting a area you want maybe be better

You can call MS any time to put in a request.

OKW has a bunch of water views - the only DVC resort that has more (so far) is BLT. the only think that OKW has more of it golf views.

so think you will be fine.

now the rehab rooms - well thinks spring of 2011 is the finish date - and you are going in Jan - so at least half (if not 3/4) of the resort should be finished by then.

OKW has some lovely water views. As much as I love BLT - really miss the water view at OKW.

For the best consideration, make your requests at the same time you book the reservation. If I make a request, it's usually only one, and I make it when I book. Asking for a specific building when you book often gets you that request. If you make that request a few days ahead, you have next to no chance of getting it.

We have done OKW with 8 people before. It is very doable. The units are big enough that you don't feel like you are tripping over eachother. I am not sure I would actually try that many if I was staying at some of the others. My sister did at VWL and said it was not enough room and would do OKW next time. As for views we have never gotten a water view but have always had a pleasant view anyway. My main concern has always been getting a ground floor as we always seem to have either my mother or my inlaws with us. The CMs there are always very accomodating.
