OKW bus system sucks

So we wanted to be dropped off at main building but on the way back from the park, it was the last stop. The driver took her sweet time circling the entire campus and we were the last one on bus. we left MK at 9pm and didn’t get dropped off at 10:30pm. That’s just nuts. Are there any tricks to combat the OKW snail bus system?

OKW is a large resort, and the loop/stops at OKW are spread out. If we wanted to go to the main building when returning from MK, we would have just gotten off the first regular stop (Miller, I think?) and made the short walk over the bridge back to the building. The bus loop does take awhile to complete at OKW. And with cars and people walking around, the buses will go cautiously.

I did what PP said, I actually stayed in that section which was perfect. I would sit on my balcony in the morning having my coffee and when I saw the bus arrive at the first stop, I would just walk over to the main building and catch the bus there since it was the last stop. My stop was the first stop coming back from the parks.

I think it's Penninsular stop to get off at and walk over the bridge. No need to go around the whole resort as thanxforniticin said.

The bus schedule said 0804 for a pick up at the Hospitality House and while we were pushing the time by showing up at 0802 the bus driver is not even stop and rolled through the bus stop. Thanks Disney bus driver for being lazy and not stopping the bus.

I think that OKW has some of the worst bus service on property. We are not fans of that resort. The slow busses, along with no real counter food service makes it one of our least favorite places to stay. They can do better.

It's really just the nature of the resort. Saratoga would be similar - the resorts are large and spread out, so there are multiple bus stops required to get guests access. Old Key West was the original DVC location, and I think they learned a few things from OKW that they improved on later - most of the newer DVC locations are not nearly so spread out - but then again, they don't have as many rooms either. We still love OKW - the feel is like home for us. Olivia's and their small counter service are fine for us. But I can understand it's not for everyone.

I have stayed at SSR numerous times and while occasionally you do get a bad bus service, our OKW stays have been very day, every trip bad bus service. It's not that there are several bus stops, it's that they busses where very infrequent. We spoke to many other guests who all say that they drive specifically at that resort because they have experienced the same thing.

All a matter of experiences, I guess. OKW seems no worse or better than SSR for us, and we've stayed at OKW dozens of times - some trips have been excellent bus service. And it might depend on where your room is located. Not sure. But it sounds like your experiences have been bad, and I'm sorry to hear that.

We also don't like the lack of quick service options and the lack of places to refill your mug. It's too big of a resort to have so few amenities. I understand that they were going for a different style with it being DVC. But they still have studio rooms without kitchens and those people could be accommodated to the level of other DVC resorts, like SSR does.
