After our stay at OKW on friends points this past week DH has finally seen the light:cool1: and has agreed to become a member.:banana::banana: With the size of OKW has anyone out there ever had a problem booking a studio last minute (I consider this about 2-4 months out) I'm usually a big pre-planner so it would not be a regular type of occurance but it may happen and I was just wondering what others have experience with this particular resort. Can't wait to hear WELCOME HOME at the front gates when it will actually be our own Home Away from Home:woohoo:

If it is a busy DVC season, like early December, or a holiday, you may have problems at any resort 2 to 4 months out...but OKW is usually one of the easiest to book.

Studios are the 1st to go at any resort and because of the point structure OKW, no matter its size, falls in the same category. The only resort which seems to accomodate last minute studio request is SSR, thus how we ended up at the 4 1/2 month mark, in the Carousel (yuck) area rather than at OKW.

DVC works best for planning far ahead, if you only plan out 2-4 months I am not sure DVC is for you.:confused3 The resorts should be close to or at 100% capacity. Just something to consider.

"That being said," being a card carrying member of the Procrastinator's Club I waited til the last minute, ie. October, to book a studio at OKW for the last 2 weeks in December and New Year's. I did the same thing the year before. Both times we were not able to get all the days we wanted right off. We were placed on a waitlist. Both last year, and the year before, the waitlists came through for us. Even though we have never had a major problem booking at the last minute I really couldn't recommend it. It's a gamble we've won but I don't know how much longer our odds will hold out. This year we booked at 11 months. It's so much nicer than suffering waitlist anxiety. I enjoy a sure thing.

As I said it really would only be a rare occurance as I am a card carrying member of the Obsessive Pre Planner's club. I was really just curious how it might affect our last minute trip plans if we ever have them. I would be ok if I had to stay at SS if I could accomodate a last minute trip if OKW wasn't.
