We will be staying at OKW for the first time the last week of October. We are booked in a two bedroom near HH category. Just wondering who has stayed in this area and what buildings you would recommend. We like to be close to the action, but are hoping there won't be a ton of noise. Also, wouldn't mind a decent view of something off the balcony. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Any of the Peninsular Road buildings would have decent views. Those are 23-26.

Buildings are generally surrounded by foliage, so first floor units usually don't have much of a view, upper floors would be a better choice for the best views. Keep in mind that the HH area buildings do not have elevators.

An excellent alternative if you can get it would be building 62, while technically not a "HH" area building it is just as close to HH as the ones that are and it does have an elevator. Buildings 63 and 64 also have elevators and are also close to HH.

Here is a map of the OKW Resort FYI.

Ignore the building 62 post above. It is NOT in the HH category, so not available to you if you are booked there. Also, since you are in a 2 bedroom, the views will be nice and open. It's only the studios on the first floor that often have foliage issues. Buildings 23-26 will mostly have nice golf course views. Building 14, 13, and 12 will have a combination of golf and woods views. Building 11 is quite isolated by woods. The buildings with NO view are the ones on Peninsular Road OUTSIDE of the HH category. Those are buildings 27-29, and will be mostly hemmed in by vegetation. Again...not an issue if you are in those HH category units buildings 23-26.

we just came back from a lovely stay in OKW. We were first given a room in building 47 i think, which we really didn't like. Given that my father in law has health issues and we had no car, it also was a too long walk back to HH. So we asked politely for another room and they made a huge effort searching the best options they could give us. They suggested builing 28 and 27 and we ended up in 27. We just loved it there; view at the back of the golf and a very short walk to HH and the pool. Additional perk: we were the first stop back from the parcs (great after a tiring day in the parcs) and the first stop on the way to the parcs, but we could also see the bus drive by to HH which was the last stop on the way to the parcs, which meant that if the bus drove by, we could still walk to HH and catch that bus if needed :-)
for me, that building was the best kept secret and i'm sharing it now with you guys :-)
(by the way, buildings 62-64 are reallly !!! very difficult to get as many already know about them and have requested them)

LOL. That just shows how different we all are. When we have stayed in 27 and 29, we HATED the view. It is nice and convenient to HH though. We LOVE the area you didn't like down by 47. Our favorite buildings are 45 and 46 because of the great canal views and being an easy walk to HH. It's all in a person's perception.

Diane... I just completed a short stay at OKW yesterday, and got building 45. In 18 years, that's only the 2nd time I got that building. Had a 1 br on the 2nd floor with a great view of the canal.

At VB now, and snagged a 1br with possibly the best ocean view at the resort!

Sounds like you have luck on your side this trip, John!:thumbsup2

LOL :-) i guess so :-) 47 has no canal views though :-)

but i really loved OKW. I'm now considering buying into DVC and while my rationale says BLT, it's difficult to tear my heart away from OKW :-) the people there were just sooooo friendly and the feeling around was nice relaxed; contrary to the contemporary where we had dinner a few times, which felt much more rushed.....

No canal views at 47, but some very nice golf views, and the walk is less than 5 minutes to HH.

When we were there over Christmas we stayed at BLT and we liked it, but I wouldn't say we loved it. We drove over to OKW and my sons 10 and 12 immediately said, "Let's stay here next time." When I asked what appealed to them about OKW my older son said it felt "more like vacation" there. We own at BLT, but if I had it to do over, I would seriously consider OKW if it was an option.

For our first stay at OKW as new owners thru an add on we stayed in a 2bdrm in building 26 and thought that was a great location.

:)In March we stayed in a 2br HH area. It was in building 13 and we were on the 1st fl. as requested. We had a lovely view of the golf course and a pond with a fountain. It was very convenient to the HH and was very quiet.

This will be our first stay at OKW in Nov. (we have AKL as home resort) and have stayed at BLT, AKL, and SSR. I am so excited to try a new resort. It is myself, DH, DS7 and DS4 so we have a studio. Any request suggestions for someone with younger children? I think I want to be near the main building, (food, pool, community hall) area. Does that main pool get super crowded? I am open to all ideas. I know that going and coming back from parks my dh and I tend to have our hands full with kids, strollers and bags so short walks to bus stops are always helpful. Thanks
