Hi all,
Though I usually lurk on these boards, I would like to share my thoughts about the vacation that our family returned home from yesterday.
Arrived Saturday 5/7 and checked into an OKW studio for one night. We liked the roominess of the studio, but felt kind of isolated. Had dinner at Olivia's. Food was mediocre and the service was worse. It wasn't even busy, so it was a disappointment. DS (10) woke up vomitting, with a fever. Not a good start, especially for our little guy.
Checked out of OKW at 11. Moved over to BCV and explained that our child was sick, and although the villas were totally booked, we were given a freshly cleaned studio within 20 minutes. Michelle was the angel at the front desk who made that happen. DS rested and was fully recovered by midafternoon.
I noticed that the fan in the bathroom was not working. We called the front desk to let them know, went to SAB for a few hours, and there was a new fan installed when we got back to our room.
We have always had a wonderful experience at BCV. The staff has always been exceptionally courteous and accomodating, the rooms have been clean and well stocked, and SAB is the bomb! I am glad that we chose it as our home resort.
WDW was great. A busier May than most years, because of the Anniversary celebration. Soarin' was amazing, the animatronic dinosaur was very cool, and the guys really enjoyed Lights, Motors, Action. The new rollercoaster being built in the AK looks like it is going to be a blast. Good meals at the Brown Derby and Kona Cafe....the rest were nothing special. We did learn of a $39/day meal plan (counter lunch, snack, table service dinner) being offered to those booking vacations through WDW, and was told by a castmember that a similar program is in the works for DVC members that should be in place by 2006.
After 5 days of BCV and WDW, we checked out and drove to Vero for our first of what I hope will be many visits. Stopped for lunch at Tchoup Chop at Universal. Food was quite good, service was wonderful, and it was the most expensive lunch that I have ever had! On to Vero. We had an Inn Room, garden view with a balcony. Loved the room, the staff, and the ocean. We were fortunate to see a loggerhead turtle nest ( 2nd of the year) being evaluated by the Disney naturalist, and were able to look into the nest and see the eggs. It was really cool. The Vero stop after trekking all over WDW for 6 days is a wonderful way to wind down from the vacation. We loved it almost as much as BCV, and would like to add on some points there.
I have appreciated all of the information that I have read on this board. I hope that what I have written is helpful for someone else.
