How many of you OKW -DVC'ers are going to take some time out of your vacations to attend the annual meeting on Thursday, Dec. 5, 2002? Do you think it would be appropriate to bring up a proposal for a discount on WDW passes for DVC members?

Pass prices are determined by market forces. If they are not selling enough passes to DVC members, they may find it advantageous to offer a discount to try to increase sales. (or they may determine it is not worth doing that- discounts can be a slippery slope for any business.) Discounts are given for one reason only- not to get less of your money- it is to get more of it. A discount will never be offered out of "loyalty" or as a reward for buying DVC. For these reasons, I don't see how bringing it up at a timeshare meeting is relevant. If Disney doesn't know how to market their product, I doubt they are going to learn from a timeshare owners meeting.

Or the short answer to your question- no.

I attended the BWV meeting in 2000 and it was brought up. The board took the opportunity to announce a new pass available just to DVC members. The infamous 4 of 5 year 5 day hopper plus for $700+ which ended up being discontinued for lack of interest.

DVC is well aware that the members would like more discounted passes, it wouldn't be news to them, I'm sure they have a canned response ready if it comes up.

The OKW meeting is next Thurs (Dec 5) at the BW Convention Center. The time is 10:00am (I think) and will last about an hour total.

The BWV meeting is the same day at 2:00pm- same place.

Enjoy!

I actually have something I would like to bring up at the meeting. Though we are owneres at BW, it would be a benefit for all at min. if not cost to DVC.

The first time my DW and I used our VC we could not ge tthe whole week we wanted so we spent the first few days, on points, at the BC. Now it's been a while, but I recall that every evening, when we returned to our room there was a message waiting. It would tell us of the weather for the next day along with what parks were opening early and other useful info. It was a canned (taped) message sent out to the rooms.

Now when we arrived at the BW, that stopped. I looked into it further and was told that was a service provided to "regular" guests of the properties, and not one to DVC members.

Now I thought, ya know..... this is really nuts. ( sorry for my rambling ) It is a pre-packaged deal, all they have to do is push a button and send it to your room. The cost is a "click" of a key

Could I have a little input, just so I know if it is brought up i will have an idea of where i stand?

Thanks
T.

Tom and Jen -

I understand your feeling about this -- but, consider, the reason might be that DVCers are just not interested in that type of perk.

When I use DVC, it tends to be for long periods of time (next trip is 11 days). It truly is my "home way from home" -- and I think of it less like a hotel and more like a vacation home. The tape perk -- in my mind -- equates more with hotel living than being at "home".

Just another perspective.
