I am planning trip in early Feb. I'm considering renting points for 10 bucks per and staying at the OKW resort in a 2 bedroom. Anyone have any thoughts, comments about the OKW? I've stayed at the YC resort this past summer, but thought I should try out some others. Has anyone rented points and had good/bad experiances?

Thanks

We rented points 2 years ago at OKW and loved it. The units are bigger here and we loved the peace and quiet for sleeping. The big balcony on the golf course was a great way to eat breakfast.

We've rented from 3 x's from different people for OKW. Great resort and they have a nice main pool and quite a few quiet pools. We have 6 in our family but have only rented 2 studios at a time to keep the cost down. I hear the 1 and 2 bdrm villas are wonderful. We've always had good bus transportation which helps when you have young children. $ 10.00 pp is a good price if renting just beware that Friday and Saturday night stays points double so that can be pricey. We did 4 nights in a FW cabin and 5 nights at OKW.

The only down side to staying at OKW is you will NOT want to stay in a regular hotel room again. OKW is a very laid back resort, you can park right in front of your villa.

Make sure you take the "Trumbo Ferry " boat ride to DD. It runs from 12:00 noon until around 9:30 pm. There is no charge for the ride. They have 2 boats(holds 12 people) that run every 20-30 minutes.

Here are a few links and pictures about OKW for you.;)

We've rented points for OKW several times and have always loved it. We usually pay $9 per point, which turns out to be a really good deal as long as you're not staying on a friday or saturday night. Usually we'll split the stay and move to another resort for the weekend.

How do you find people to rent points from? Never thought of doing that. We are going with a group of 8 in May for 11 nights. How do you know how many points you would need?:wave2:

Faithful...check out (DVC Rent/Trade Board) DVC avl at WDW BWV, VWL, BCV, & OKW..soon to open SSR.

I've rented points 4 times. Twice we stayed at OKW in studios, and in 2 days we're staying at Boardwalk Villas and Beach Club Villas, and then AKL for the weekend. I rented BCV points so DS (14 yo) could use Stormalong Bay, added BWV to check out the Keister Coaster pool slide, only to discover it's closed for renovations! I have used the Rent/Trade board here at the DIS and had excellent experiences so far. I try to hold out for $9 points, but $10 is a very fair price.

My secret plan is to wow DH into a small DVC purchase!

We just got back from OKW last week and it was wonderful. I was lucky enough to buy points off a friend who only charged me 7 dollars a point, but that is unusally low. None of us had stayed here before and it will be hard to stay at a regular resort again. We had ten people - 7 adults and 3 children ages 1-3. Some arrived on a Wed and others on Sat so instead of trying for a 3 bedroom we got a 2 bedroom that started on Wed and a studio that started on Sat. OKW was good enough to get us the rooms in the same building - no. 25 - which was just a short walk over the bridge and very close to the HH and the main pool. It was also very close to the bus stop. The kids (I'm the grandma) complained at first that we were the first bus stop which meant we had to travel the whole resort before being on our way, but I pointed out that we were guaranteed a place to sit - good with 3 small children - and that we were the first ones dropped off when we returned.
When all of us finally arrived in FL the 2 couples with the kids stayed in the 2 bedroom so that they could put them in rooms for naps and at night, and myself and the other 2 stayed in the studio. At first they were disappointed not to be in the biiger place with the jacuzzi, but being able to go to the studio for peace and quiet was a plus.
My only complaint was once the kids went to bed, we had to tiptoe thru the dark to get to either of the bathrooms since their entrances were only off the bedrooms. I understand this may not be the case if your 2 bedroom is actually a joined 1 bedroom and studio, but ours was an actual 2 bedroom unit.
Sorry for rambling on. We had a great time and would stay there again in a heartbeat. Just wish I could afford to buy ... hey, maybe I can talk my kids into splitting the cost 4 ways !!

We havent rented points but we are DVC and OKW is our home resort. We stayed in a 2 bdrm this OCt for our trip and we loved it. Two bdrm's are HUGE. SO much space for everyone, a kitchen, a washer & dryer...it was awesome. We had a wonderful little balcony to go out on and sit in the am (mosquitos were bad at night). Our busses were timely and never seemed as crowded as the other resorts so we never had to stand even at park closing.

Have you ever had to rent points from more than one person in order to get enough points? How does making the reservation work if more than one source provided the points? Still trying to figure out how this all works. Thank you.:earsboy:

I'm renting points for the first time for a December trip to OKW. My experience has been very positive so far.

Personally, I would want to rent all the points from the same person - it would just make things a lot easier. Lots of DVC owners have plenty of points so that shouldn't be a problem. The only thing is that availability might be an issue if you're wanting a ressie for Feb 2004. DVC owners can make ressies 11 months in advance at their home resorts and 7 months in advance at other resorts so they may already be booked.

Be sure to check out the DVC rent/trade board and read their FAQ's. Good luck with your plans!
