Did you get my PM? Were you able to use it? It exprires 1/1/06, but maybe they have a new one coming out for AP holders after that.

I am an AP holder...is the pass sleeve the envelope they give you your pass in when your purchase your AP? I don't remember getting anything else? And if I did...I don't think I have it!

To get the code....where can I find it? Do they post it on the AP portion of the Disney website? Or perhaps I can call Disney?

Anyone with any info, it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! :earsboy:

I just sent you a new one. If you don't get it let me know. Also I found a phone number for AP help. You might want to call them and see if the Alamo deal will be extened past 1/1/06

407-560-Pass (7277) They should be able to help you also.

We always get a car, much faster and easier to get to all parks except MK. Last year a co-worker went to OKW, no car, sick baby, had to call a cab to go to the hospital. I know that is not the norm but is food for thought. Have a great trip!

Just so you know, many places like centra care medical center will provide a van and driver to come get you (and car seats) free of charge. They even recomend you use them because the driver knows the least busy center to go to and can get you there faster then driving on unfamilar rodes.

I did try the AP Rate code and ID# tonight at the Alamo site and still got the ~$310 rate.. I then called their 1-800 number and the best I could do (even if I just got it for 3 days as well as a weekly rate) was $333..

I told the lady at the Alamo 1-800 line they were crazy.. I'd never pay that..
Didn't seem to phase her much

I enjoy working these rates down.. I'll either get it to $200 or enjoy the adventure of WDW transportion.. either way we'll be having a great trip.. :cool1:

That is what DH does. Most of the time we find a good rate. The good thing is they aren't like airline tickets. If you book it and find something better you can cancel and go with the better. Or even if you book it and decided you don't need it you can cancel.

We never rented a car until we started doing some trips to Vero Beach and we needed a car. It was great, but so not worth that much money.

If you can get a good deal, go for it. If not enjoy the WDW transportation and use the money for something else you can enjoy too.

Good luck. Let us know if you get a deal.

Well, the best I could get so far is a full size car for $37/day from Budget at the Expedia site.. Its for the location on Hotel Blvd in Lake Buena vista and they'll come get me at OKW.. That seems pretty good.. I'll think about it for a while, but at least I have something reasonable booked if I decide I want it.. Like i said I enjoy the game of getting the best deal :pug:

We're just back from our OKW trip and thought I'd post how happy we all were that we rented the car. Our trip ended up consisting of three adults (myself, DH and 78 yr old MIL) and my two 4yr old twins. Knowing that we were renting a car I made dinner reservations at places that would be hard to get to without a car.

Here's how we made use of the $37/day car:

Sunday: drove to GF 1900 Park Fare dinner

Monday: DH and I went out to Pleasure Island.. stayed out until 1am

Tuesday: Resort and Pool Hopping Day (free valet at DVC resorts):
1) Toured VWL
2) Pool Hopped at Poly
3) Dinner at Kona Cafe at Poly
4) Drove to Beaches & Cream at Beach Club for Ice Cream Sundaes
5) Drove to Boardwalk for a full moonlit stroll

Thursday: Drove to DTD for dinner at Wolfgang Puck.. saved time and
reduced walking for MIL

Friday: Rather than take the 11:20 DME bus from OKW, we stayed
longer at the resort, had lunch on the patio at Olivias and didn't
leave for the airport until 12:40. That last hour was worth it!

That is great, sounds like you had a wonderful trip! We find a car at OKW and SSR is more helpful then say BCV. Still if we have a car we tend to make the most of it. We found a mid size SUV for $120 for the whole week (with tax) so we are pretty excited about it. Of course we are going to Vero Beach too, so a car is a must.

Did you take the bus to the parks? How did you do at night time. We find the bus is good for morning and mid day trips, but if we stay until the park closes it is easy to have the car so the kids can sleep in their car seats on the way home instead of trying to hold them standing up with the stroller too on the bus.

Glad you had a good trip. How did you like OKW? :goodvibes

We absolutely loved OKW! I don't have enough to compare against yet, but I have a feeling this will turn out to be my favorite resort. I like the relaxed laid back feeling.. it's a nice contrast to the intensity of the parks and other resorts. OKW epitomizes "Hakuna Matata"

We arrived late on Sat night (10:30pm) so I was a little concerned about our room assignment due my DH's mother being 78. We had requested a ground floor close to HH and to my delight, that's exactly what we got! We were assigned to (lucky) room 1313 which was exceptionally clean and quiet overlooking the golf course and pond with a fountain. There were a few problems with the room (garbage disposal didn't work, missing light bulb, no dishwasher detergent, toilet seat that wouldnt stay up and came crashing down at 4am the first night) but these were all fixed within 24 hours by the maintenance man we affectionatly called "Uncle Wells"... :)

The pool and slide were great for my kids. We rented those life vests for the whole week from Hanks as recommended on this board. I took early morning walks down to the turtle shack area and used the exercise room as well. I told my husband I think this was the best vacation I've ever had and we have been ALL over the world on vacation (Jamaica, Bahamas, Venezuela, Hawaii twice, Europe twice..) so as you can see I'm still flying on cloud nine here :goodvibes

AS for the bus transportation, we were a little unlucky on how long we waited at the HH stop..it was always around 20 minutes. We used the busses Monday morning 8am to MK, Wednesday afternoon around 4pm to MK and Thursday morning at 8am to AK. We were able to sit every ride we took both to and from the parks and I loved bypassing the TTC on our trips to MK! It felt like first class service to us.

My trip was greatly enhanced by people here on the DIS board and I will try to give back some of the great advice I received..

Thanks everyone!

Lauren
