My husband wants to go away before our 1st trip home in June to BCV. I called and was able to get a two bedroom at OKW for 4 nights starting Feb. 12th and then moving to AKL Concierge for 2 nights at the end. Needless to say I am so excited!!!!

My questions are: We have three children under the age of 7 and I was thinking from reading these boards that close to the hospitality house would be the wisest request. This is also near the main pool I think. Anyone have any suggestions?

I thought staying in AKL Concierge would be worth the extra points due to our family of five. Does anyone have any experience or opinions to share about AKL Concierge? I do realize that we will be cramped after being spoiled at OKW but I think the experience will be great for the kids.

Also, how about changing resorts. We will be renting a car. Would one suggest moving our things ourselves or having Disney do this for us?

Thanks for your advice.

:D :D :D :(

I've never had Disney move my things between resorts and probably would prefer to do this myself, esp.if you have or plan to rent a car.

About AKL concierge, you might want to query that over at the resorts board where you might have a larger population to respond.

Either way, sounds like a great time!

Sounds like a great trip!

If you are going to have a car and/or will be eating in your unit or outside the resort most days, I wouldn't be too concerned about being close to HH. There really isn't any great need. Swimming in February may be "iffy" and no matter where you are, you will have a pool nearby. I think the Old Turtle Pond pool area is pretty much comparable to the main pool. The only difference is you aren't near the shop/restaurant and you don't have a sauna.

Like fkj2, I've always had a car and just put the suitcases in the trunk and move myself. You can check-in and drop your bags off at AKL when it's convenient and then just wait for your room.

You'll get lots of info about both AKL & transferring luggage on the resorts board.

AKL concierge sounds wonderful! It consistently gets great reviews! If you're going to be there on a tuesday or saturday, be sure to look into making reservations for the Sunrise safari. It's not inexpensive, but includes breakfast. It books up fast, so check as soon as you've finalized your plans.

I think that having Disney transfer luggage is easier in general, but at OKW, where your car is right there, it isn't worth it. Plus it can take a long time to have your stuff moved. I would do it in a resort where you need a porter or cart to get your luggage from your room to your car. Then you might as well just let them hold your stuff & move it to your new room.

Have fun!

Thanks for the info. I think we will move our own luggage since we will have a car. We can't wait!!

Also, I read about the Sunrise Safari and I think I would rather do this when my kids are a little bit older. I think this trip I don't want any advance plans, just winging it!:jester:
