I requested and was granted a first-floor 2-bedroom villa (only 2 buildings have elevators out of ~55). I had a canal view last time (3rd and top floor) and they gave me one this time albeit a different building. We had an ECV plugged in just outside our villa which wasn't ours, but I'm sure made transport much easier for whomever the guest was.
I was so thankful for the first floor, especially when unloading/packing our vehicle which was parked about 30 feet from our front door. There are no luggage carts as the 2nd and 3rd floors have no means to get there.
There are 4 private pools (with hot tubs) on property and, I think, each has a guest laundry building with changing/restrooms (I know ours did). There are no lifeguards at them, but they are VERY quiet in the AM and never had an issue with chairs/lounges.
The Community Hall CM's were beyond outstanding. Each time entering. we were greeted with a smile. One of them showed me the book of movies to rent from was new to me (books separated by ratings). As our art tracing table was being used, I struck up a conversation with a couple of them. They were younger and full of energy. But, when we talked about the parks and future attractions, the young lady pulled out a folded list of what she and her CM friends brainstormed. Of course, a Villains Park was at the top of their list and both the CM's were overjoyed as they shared the attraction concepts they have come up with.
I then asked if they had thought about the food for this park. She says, "Of course" and flips the sheet over and reads through the QS/table and kiosk ideas they came up with. We bantered back and forth for about 45 minutes as they were just full of joy that a guest/me listened to them and shared some of my ideas. This was a highlight of this trip for me. I have no doubt, these young ladies have the passion to become the next Imagineers. We even made a tie dyed t-shirt on this trip. It came out wonderful.
A sad day when leaving, but almost a whole week was a good amount of time to try some new things (Gurgling/Community Hall). We made some friends with the CM's with ease here. Mousekeeper was such a joy to talk with; there was genuine respect for her background, etc.
OKW rests atop my favorite WDW DVC properties (4th time here). It marries the tropical feel with the landscaping, relaxation of space, ease of transportation and uniqueness that makes me feel at home.
