Well we are going down for our second trip this year - Labor day week. We just stayed in a Wildnerness lodge villa studio the last week in May and it was very nice as I love the Magic Kingdom area, but I'm coming to realize that if I'm in the MK area I like to stay on a monorail resort (my favorite being the Polynesian). Having said that we have enough points left for either a five day trip in a studio at OKW or a four day for the Boardwalk-Preferred view (there are no standard views available). Boardwalk is our home resort, I've stayed there but not husband. Neither of us have stayed in OKW. We only used 3 of our 5 day passes from this last trip so we'll have 2 days on our passes and we MIGHT buy an additional one day pass each. So probably at most be hitting the parks 3 days. I made the reservation for OKW for the 5 days, then changed my mind and made it for Boardwalk for the 4 days (and unfortunately I'm still going back and forth in my mind) and I don't dare call back to change unless I've really really made a final decision (if there is such a thing). With all the above factors in mind, toddler, 2-3 day passes, etc., is there anyone here with any strong opinions either way (hah! :) ). Thanks for any opinions in advance!

we always go for the longer stay - however in you situation when you own BWV and your husband has not even seem the place - I vote for the BWV.

You are going to face this decision every time you go to WDW. It seems, from reading between the lines, that you are not "in love" with BWV. I'm not saying that you don't like it, but it doesn't seem like you are always willing to "pay the point premium" to stay there.

In that case, you might have been better off buying OKW. Cheaper dues there and you can always try to book the other resorts at the 7 month mark.

Please don't take this as a put down or slam...it's just an observation. :)

We always say "buy where you want to stay the most". The second part of that might be...."and if you don't care where you stay, buy at OKW with the larger rooms, fewer points per night and lowest maintenance fees". :)

I'd vote for the extra day at OKW. There's more room for your toddler and more time for you and your hubby to relax.

I'll second the motion. I'm a BWV lover but if I were going again for the second time this year and was planning on not being a "park commando" I'd choose the 5 nights at OKW.

I can't believe you are even thinking about this. Let me see an extra day to spend at disney.....um....um. Nah, let just go for the 4 days. Are you crazy? What if one on the days it rains? You will have an extra day to do the things you wanted. Don't even give it any extra thought, get on the phone and change to OKW. WHo knows you might even find that you like it better. The rooms are bigger. Go for it! One extra day is priceless.

I hope this helps....LOL. Good luck and have fun.

Granny, I don't view that as a slam, the thing is when we were finally in a position to afford the monthly payments of joining DVC(via 10 year financing) BWV's were the only ones on sale through Disney, re-sale at OKW wasn't an option for us. I guess I could actually ask my husband, but his normal answer to anything Disney related is whatever you want is fine :smooth: not much of a help I know. I guess I could always rent the fifth night at BWV from a member and see if they could tack it on to our point reservation somehow. Though the thought of the bigger rooms at OKW is tempting too. Oh decisions, decisions.

ROFL! Are you sure that's YOUR husband? Better look closely, mine is the exact same way. If I bring up Disney, it seems to be "Whatever you want to do, dear." Then he goes back to his sports page til he has to pack his suitcase. Just curious, any other spouses react (or rather not react) this way?

Simba's Mom...yes, my DW reacts pretty much the same way! :p Don't be getting into that gender generalization thing here! :p

And HeatherPage....thank you for not taking my comments as a slam. I know there are often extenuating circumstances when buying DVC. Enjoy your trip!:)

I vote for the 5 days at OKW and waitlist BWV standard. And see what happens. Good luck. Rich

If you're getting a studio and are not planning to use the pull out bed (not sure how old your toddler is and whether they'd use the pack and play) then I think the studio at BWV would actually be more spacious for your family.

That said, I think OKW is much better geared for your situation. They are closer to DD (you could probably kill a day there), and they seem to have more family activities. The pool is better at BWV but you can always hop to any pool you want (except the forbidden ones) so you could spend a day at the poly if you so choose. Although OKW is on the bottom of my list of properties where I would like to stay, it's not SO far down that I'd forgo 20% of a trip so that I could stay somewhere else! I would definately stay 5 days at okw over 4 at BWV (though truth be told, I would probably just borrow or rent points for the extra day and stay at BWV, but it's my favorite).

LOL! I was just getting ready to post almost the same thing word for word but you beat me to it, so therefore I will just say "ditto" to LisaF's post.

Got one of those here!!! Must be twins. Separated at birth.

Just for the record, there's one guy at work whose wife is the one that says "whatever......". He's the planner, she's the follower. This is the only "role reversal" that I know of.

What I really like about my hubby is the packing: I try to do the laundry up and pack clothes the weekend before we go, he of course, won't choose shirts, so I do, then the night before we leave.......he's trying to add shirts (no honey, three is the limit, we have a laundry), fussing over his shoes and complaining about how I plan too much. Then when we get there, he is asking "did you bring this" "yes dear" "did you bring that" "yes dear" because, of course, I planned!

And lets not even talk about trying to ask him where he'd like to eat out while there so I can make a PS!

OK, my wife does do the packing, and she'll possibly book a restaurant or two.

That said, I'll be busy planning every detail until we get there, not only because I'm anal retentive, but because I really enjoy thinking about my Disney trip.

I am a Disney addict, as is my father-in-law. Neither of us are sports fans either, so the gender generalization is only that. There are plenty of exceptions to most rules.

You all have given me alot of food for thought. Thanks! I asked my husband when I got home and he said (drumroll please)..."Whatever you want dear" (sigh). I think I'm leaning back towards the 5 days at OKW. I hope if I do call back and change it they won't ban me from calling MS forever.

My husband is now more involved in the decisions because the last time he said, "Whatever you want, dear", I'd had a particularly stressful day.

My answer was, "Whatever I want? How sweet of you! You stay in Ohio with the kids, I'll be at OKW for 5 days by myself...."

I was just venting, really!!! :p

What "pull out bed". There is no pull out in a studio. Can anyone interpret for me.

I think she was referring to the pullout couch in a studio;)

I forgot to cast my vote! I would stay at OKW, since you have not tried it yet. Who knows you may love it!
