OKW 2 bedrooms vs GV thoughts?

If we can secure a GV that is. Here is the story...I was planning on taking my 14 year old niece and 10 year old nephew to WDW with my 2 kids(no DH). It was all very casual, and SIL was fine with the idea, her kids have never been. Well, now, she is thinking maybe her and MIL need to tag along to be reinforcements with the kids. I think we will be fine, SIL has never been, and has very little desire to go. MIL has been once and likely also has very little desire to go as well. I'm fine with them going, although I think a trip with just the kids would be so much fun!!

So, there will be 3 adults and 4 kids. My first thought was a GV at OKW. We stayed there for a few days and I loved it. We stayed in a studio though. I'm thinking about finances though, and I know SIL and MIL will want to save money...hopefully don't request to stay off property. Will will be ok in a 2 br?

My other thought was maybe Bonnet Creek, but my first choice is OKW. Thoughts???

I think you will be fine as long as everyone is ok sharing a bed with someone.

We did 4 adults, 1 teenager and 2 pre-teens in a 2 BR at AKV last year and everyone loved it. AKV is nice because it does have the pull out chair and couch so the kids slept out there.

OKW also has the pullout chairs now plus they have 2 beds in the 2nd bedroom as opposed to the pullout plus bed that the other resorts have. What they don't have that AKL's 2 bedrooms have is that 3rd bathroom.

Me, I'd probably let MIL and SIL share the master and the king bed. I'd sleep in the 2nd bedroom in one bed and my 2 kids in the other bed (unless they won't sleep together and then I'd sleep with one of the kids and let the other have the other bed). I'd put 14 year old niece in the sleeper sofa and the 10 year old nephew in the sleeper chair. They'd have the master bath for the 4 of them and I'd take the 2nd bath for my two kids and I.

Going from a studio to a 2 bedroom is a huge jump in cost (I own DVC but the point jump is also pretty big). Unless you are absolutely set on sharing one space and want that kitchen, you might want to consider getting 2 rooms (which would be 4 beds) at any of the resorts; the values and moderates would probably be less expensive than an OKW 2 bedroom.

The grand villas are great, what's not to love. But that's lot of space for your party and I wouldn't spend the extra for 7 people.

Are you crazy???? No way in heck. They can share the second bedroom with the neice. The nephew and the two boys can share the living room. And the owners get the master bedroom (she can share with her little one if she likes). These two have just decided to tag along and they get the master? I think not.

the nice thing about OKW is how large the living room area is.

If your family doesn't like to share beds, you can take the master, SIL and MIL each get a bed in the studio portion, and the 4 kids can duke it out over who gets the pull out, and who sleeps on an air matress in the living room area.

The 2 BR at OKW is plenty big to handle 7 guests. When I stayed there for the first time 2 years ago, I got lost for a moment the first time we walked in exploring our 2 BR lock-off..... i couldn't imagine how big a GV there is.

:thumbsup2 I NEVER give up my master bedroom!

I think you'll be fine in an OKW 2 br. I personally wouldn't spend the extra points on people who don't have that much interest in being there. SIL and MIL are going to have a hard time saving money, if they are truly just going to help with the kids, they will still have to pay for tickets! $$$$

In any case, make sure you are comfortable and the rest will just have to work it with the available beds /sleeper chair.

The OKW rooms are huge and the two-bedroom units are terrific. We actually prefer them, because I have an old ankle injury and we try to avoid units with stairs. The GVs are wonderful, but you should be fine in the two-bedroom. There's no sense breaking the budget if you don't need to.
