l wonder where they came out
Difficult to say since it was after midnight. There wouldn’t have been any Disney transportation boats using the waterway that late so anywhere from POR to DS would have been possible. If they had a getaway accomplice so they didn’t have to park a car, that would help, but they could have left a car at any of the resorts along the “river” during the day and then accessed it later under cover of darkness. It probably took some planning to avoid security cameras, since those seem to be everywhere at WDW.

How do have they much cash on hand especially when you figure most people pay with a credit card?
It could have been a combination of the daily cash receipts and the cash bank on hand for making change.

Not everyone uses a cc either. I only use one in a restaurant if they can bring the device to the table. I don’t let anyone take my card out of sight. Too much theft and fraud these days.

This is the wildest story ever. I’m so curious about where he got in and out of the water. I always assumed Disney had cameras everywhere
They also fenced off so much of the waterways or put high walls along them that would make getting out difficult. I wondered about the section along the treehouses. It seemed to be unfenced and low walls along because of how it’s laid out, but all you need is a small spot to access. I hope we hear the details when he’s caught.

The distance from Paddlefish to the treehouses is pretty far! That whole lagoon area right outside of Paddlefish is huge. Who in their right mind would want to be in that body of water, never mind swimming a distance

If he had any self preservation instincts he wouldn’t have come ashore anywhere close to SSR or DS.

Does the security video show him wearing the scuba getup? The description in the article linked above said he was painting over the security camera and wearing regular clothes. I know it sounds unbelievable, but what if the employees were in on it and there was no swim? The person knew their way around the back of the house and knew the time the cash would be counted. You don’t know those things unless you worked there or have an in with someone who works there. The robber was also unarmed, or at least never showed a weapon to the victims and they were able to get untied themselves afterwards.

Something is not adding up here. The robber must have had inside information, either from the victims or from another employee, to do what he did. Since he was on video I assume he has been ruled out as a former employee himself. I am really curious now . . .

I think you can drive beyond the surface parking lot at Disney Springs and it is considered castmember parking but there is nothing to stop you .

I drove there to get photos of the back of Disney Springs a few weeks ago .
I think the sidewalk follows the golf course , maybe ?

Between the gators, the poisonous snakes, and the brain eating amoeba you wouldn’t catch me going anywhere near that water. . .
RIGHT! You'd have to pay me WAY more than he got to get in that water .... who am I kidding, there wouldn't be enough money to get me in that water.

I'm with you. Way too fishy!

I saw people paying with cash my trip last week at bars, booths and restaurants. It seems to have gained in popularity again. Could be the international influence? There seemed to be a lot of international folks in the parks last week. But the guy next to me at the bar was definitely an American and he paid cash so maybe not…
