Okay, someone correct me if I'm wrong,

Aha, you've proved me wrong.
I just think that going thru this personally, changes my outlook on it.

Sorry for sounding ignorant or confusing.

I totally understand that. No one knows what cancer is truly like unless they have experienced it themselves. I saw the pain my grandparents went through and it hurt me so bad. I still don't know what they exactly went through.

No I definitley disagree with that.

My grampa had skin cancer, he never went through chemo, but he DID lose his entire right ear in surgery to prevent it from spreading.
If you are diagnosed, if you have a tumour--malignant or benign, you still have cancer. EVERY person who is told they have cancer feel the same sense of fear and confusion.

Sonya, sweetie...you're not acting like yourself. Is everything ok?

The thing is and I am far from an expert on this disease at all is that there are different degrees of cancer. There is Lymphomy(SP) and Luekemia which is a different form of Cancer. There are also many different means of treatment for Cancer (from surgery to remove a tumor, to Chemo, to Radiation Treatment. Going through whatever treatment you have to go through you still have Cancer and it is still a challenge to defeat. Iambrat, I think from reading your posts that you know that very well.

sonya, youve been coming off as kindof elitist through this whole thread. it really seems like you feel that if someone didnt go through the same thing as you, they can't have cancer. :confused3

*nods*

Is everything alright Sonya?
I have to agree with AmandaSparkles, youre not acting like yourself.

I am okay, I just let this get to me too much, and I don't know why.
I feel terrible for the comments I made, and I admit it made me upset a little after the fact.
I think I just see things differently than others, having gone thru it myself.

As for the spreading part, per my doctors, if they removed it the tumor probably wouldn't spread. Sure, it can always come back, but so can benign tumors. Someone I know has a brain tumor, and going into surgery they didn't know if it was benign or not. They found the tumor and found out it was malignant. Even though it was malignant, they refused to remove the tumor as it would've spread.

When I think of cancer, I think of dooms day at the MD's office. Chemo is a part of cancer, but there is alot more too it.

Of course you're going to see it differently! You had it. And it's ok to let things get to you for no reason, you're still a teenager. You just went through a very adult situation.

cancer,
is when you have too many cells [[they reproduce too quickly]] THEN
that problem [[can]] spread to the rest of your body. i kno all of this from science class this year && dont ask me how i remembered it b/c i have noo idea! lol

Why would you bump this up?

From a medical standpoint, everybody has cancer cells in their body all the time. However, someof us just get unlucky and those cells start going haywire and reproducing too fast. The cells replace good cells in your body with replicas of themselves, and the cycle continues. When this occurs, you have cancer. Cancer doesnt mean that you have to get treatment. A lot of people choose not to treat their cancer. If you dont gert treatment, you still have cancer.

Hey, if you looked this is an old thread. I apologized, and trust me, I know what cancer is.

Stop bumping this up! I don't need an explanation, I apologized, and I'm not going to coward out and delete the post.
