Okay, we just finished painting our kitchen/dining room white and then I sponged/toweled blue paint over top of it. Now, in the two corners on the wall where the outside door is, I'm going to put picket fencing in with vines, birdhouses, and birds.

My big question is......... do you think I should put the pickets right together with no space in between like is shown HERE (although it's kind of hard to see) or should I leave spaces (about 1-1/2 to 2") between the pickets where the wall(sky) would show through?

I know, it's kind of hard to picture. For me too!!! What do you think?

My preference is for spacing. I think without spacing it is too much white unless that is what you were going for.

I don't have any good advice, it sounds awesome though.

I just popped in to say it's nice to 'see' you Kristy, I hope all is well with your family.

Ok, I thought about it and I would do no spacing because I think it would be easier to keep clean. You still get the affect...but not the hassle of trying to keep the nooks and crannies clean.

I would leave spaces. I'd even go so far as to have the spaces be about the same size as the pickets.

Oh, and the spacing would be just the place for kids to put things.... you have kids, right? :teeth:

Ummm....just a few!! :smooth:

I like it with no spacing. Plus I do think it would be easier to clean. Great idea I bet it will look great either way. Good Luck!

Another vote for spacing for more of the blue to show. :teeth: Hmmm...opinions aren't really "helping" are they? :rotfl:

Yea.....It seems to be tied, doesn't it??? :confused3 :rolleyes1 Anyone else want to break the tie? :lmao:

Question, are you painting the pickets onto the wall? Or are they wood? Not sure why that matters to me. Anyway, my DD's room has a painted picket fence with a few vines a birdhouse, birds and a few other things. The fence is spaced about 2 inches apart. I like how it looks spaced.

I'll be using real wood pickets.

Okay, after playing around and thinking about it, I decided to do the fence with spacing. Here is a picture of what I have so far. Unfortunately, it is really blurry, so it is hard to get a good idea of how it looks. And it's plain right now as I don't have any of the "extras" added!

Thanks for your input!

I actually like it. I'm glad you didn't listen to me about not spacing between pickets

WELL! (Acting insulted....) You didn't wait for my input!

I was going to say 'spaced apart' but looks like you did that anyway! :teeth: Wow ~ you're really talented! I love the look! Are you for hire?? I live in Michigan too! :Pinkbounc
