okay I got my first DVC discounted Annual Pass last May, now it will be expireing, what happens now, how do I renew it, or do I wait till I go again in September....Help this is all new for me....LOL

It kind of depends on your travel plans for the future. I guess if it was me (we live a long ways from Florida), I would let it expire and order a new one for September. That way you aren't letting it sit for 4-5 months wasting time. We have had APs for about 9 years, and we have never renewed one since the renewal policy changed about 7 years ago. We usually buy an AP, activate it with a trip and then make two more trips in the next 365 days. Then we let them expire and get a new one just before our next trip.

With the DVC discount, you only save $16 on a renewal. $319 vs $335. If you are absolutely positive you will not be going between May and September next year, then save the $16.

Debbieb is correct. There is not much difference between a new AP and the renewal when using the DVC discount. Mine expires this Friday and I will not go again until at least Dec. I'll wait and just get a new one when I go. I was at WDW 2 weeks ago and had trouble with my AP one day. Customer service offered to renew it and I declined. He did not realize that there was only $16 dollars difference between the 2.

thanks everyone, think I will just renew when I get there in Sept. and I have a trip planned again in December and now looking at April 2007 so just letting it go till I get down there next makes sense. thanks Again

To get the renewal price, you have to renew within 30 days of expiration. You can't wait until September, you would have to call and buy vouchers before the 30 days are up.

Is the renewal price, the price with the $100. dollars off with the DVC discount?? and if it is and I should not wait, how do I renew, being I am here and not going down to WDW till September.

thanks for the info

Really? I thought you had to renew by the expiration date. DARN! I just renewed our AP for a trip in mid-June and I would have rather delayed the renewal to stretch out the expiration date. :sad2:

I think that when you renew the AP the new expiration date is 365 days after the previous expiration date regardless of when you renew. So don't worry waiting wouldn't have gotten you any extra days.

The renewal price with the DVC discount is $319. You would have to call member services and order renewal vouchers. I think you can also order a renewal online. If you wait until September, the cost of a new AP with the DVC discount is $335.

I think the 30 day "grace period" is unofficial. Officially, they will tell you it has to be renewed by the expiration date. No matter when you buy the renewal, it will be effective on the expiration date of your old one.

I think the 30 day grace period for renewing IS official. When you call or renew at WDW they are very open about it and I first read about it in my AP info not on boards or websites. That would be because we've had APs longer than I've been on the DIS by quite a few years. ;)

But as noted, renewing doesn't change the anniversary date which remains the same as the previous AP.

We just let our AP's expire at the end of March since we won't be going till next month again. I just ordered our new AP's via the DVC website. It said they wouldn't be here until May 24th but they came on the 15th - only took a week! Since we won't be exchanging our vouchers til June 5th( our activation date) we will be able to get in this June trip, our Oct. trip, Spring break and then we will plan to get one more trip in at the end of May 2007! 4 trips all on one AP! So, I would wait to get new ones that will activate on your Sept. trip!
