Until today, I had the WL Courtyard View booked for the week before Christmas. I booked it with a PIN code Disney mailed me last week.

Today, I was able to get a rate for the Poly Garden View that was comparable. It was a little more money, but not a lot. So I made the switch.

I just read a thread about the best deluxe for Christmas, and everyone loves the WL. Did I make a big mistake?

I knew the WL would be beautiful at Christmas. I stayed there for the first time last summer. But I have never stayed at the Poly, so I jumped at the decent rate and the chance for something new.

I do not think I could get the WL back if I tried tomorrow. From everything I have heard, it's been booked from the get go. Do you think I should try, though?

Is the Poly better to try for the first time in the spring or summer? Will the Poly be wonderful at Christmas, too? Please tell me what you would do.

Ok, I have never stayed at either resort, but...I love trying new things. I think that if you had the opportunity to upgrade to a resort that you've always wanted to stay at, then..CONGRATS!!
This probably won't be your last time at Disney, and if you absolutely LOVE WL, then stay there again at another time. Lots of people's dream is to stay at the Polyand they would jump at the opportunity to stay there. My dream is to stay at each resort at least once, and the Poly is not an easy resort to stay in, financially speaking. Just feel blessed that you can be at Disney during such a special time of year, and in a fabulous resort!
Good Luck.

I can't imagine the Poly not being wonderful at Christmas time. The ease of the monorail will be wonderful and you can enjoy a meal at Wilderness Lodge to enjoy the holiday festivities there. With a comparable price (in my opinion) you have made the right decision.

I would have personally made the same choice as you. While the WL is wonderful, I still prefer the Poly for its pool, theming, dining options, and transportation. The rooms are also much bigger.

I hope you enjoy Christmas with the Mouse:santa:

I have always wanted to stay at the Poly, but can't justify paying regular prices when I can spend the extra money on souvenirs and stuff...enjoy your trip knowing you get to stay at an awesome resort and paid a good price.

Christmas at Disney is going to be wonderful no matter where you stay.

You can go over to WL and view the decorations. I think you will love Poly, with the larger rooms, being able to watch Wishes from the beach, and being able to take the monorail to MK and Epcot. It's always difficult not to second guess the resort choices, but I think you'll be pleased.

Besides, all those threads about "best this" and "best that" are just one person's opinion. Every person is different. For every person that loves WL, you'll find one that loves AKL, and one that loves Poly, and one that loves CR. You'll also find some that would never go back to WL, Poly, AKL, or CR. You know your family best, you made your decision, and you'll have a great holiday at Disney.

Christmas is beautiful EVERYWHERE in Disney. I've never seen the Poly at Christmas, but it's beautiful all the time, so I assume Christmas is equally lovely. I have seen WL and the lobby is stunning. Even if you're not staying there, take the time to go over there for a meal and just to explore. It will be well worth it.

My daughter and I are going to the Poly during December and I can't wait! I think you will love it. You could always plan on taking an evening to head over to the WL for dinner and one of the Holiday sleigh rides that leave from the front of the WL. We did that last year and it was GREAT! The sleigh ride met us out front and took us through wooded areas. The sleigh was strung with a few lights and had blankets and they allowed us to bring hot chocolate. VERY holiday like.:thumbsup2

Boy, these are the kind of decision I wished I had to be sad about.
You can't go wrong with either one of those resort IMO. WL is beautiful at Christmas and the POLY is always stunning.
I'd would be giggling my little head off at the prospect of staying at either one. Stop stressing, set back and start getting excited

You will love the Poly but def make it a point to visit the WL. When we were at the Poly last December the Xmas decor was minimal (at best). However, whatever theming it lacked was made up for by it's beautiful and convenient location. Plus, you'll be engulfed with the Xmas spirit that surrounds Disney this time of year regardless of what any resort has to offer. Have a great trip! :)
