Hi...for those who have been reading my posts the past couple of days you know that I am trying to plan a family trip to CA in April 2006. I missed out on a great flight deal and now am searching for what next.....

I've checked tonight on staying off-site at the Residence Inn by Marriott (the one 1 mile from DL) and that with a flight package through Travelocity I can get for under the price of off-site with tickets through Disneydirect??? Does that sound right? How can there be such a price difference?

I was worried about staying off-site and missing out but with that much price savings maybe we could do more while there and still enjoy the magic. If we go to a character breakfast say at the Disneyland Hotel we can look around the grounds and take pictures right?

Also, if I book something like that through Travelocity how do I get transportation to/from airport or any other things we'd like to do...say San Diego Zoo or others? Do they offer that service or would the hotel do that?

Sorry so many questions in one post...THANKS to anyone who can help me out!

We went last april and are planning to go again this spring. I am waiting a little while for new spring deals to come out. For example last year we got kids fly free on alaska, kid 5 day hopper free with an adult one, free shuttle to hotel for the kid with my shuttle, fourth night free at DLH, and 150.00 in disney dollars. I note most of the deals now expire at the end of December so I am waiting for a month or so till the spring deals come out. Just a thought.

Why would you even bother going to check out the Disneyland Hotel if you are not staying there?

I can understand people wanting to stay at a Disney property but it's just a hotel - nice enough, but nothing special at all if you're not staying there.

There are also character meals in Disneyland and at DCA, so you don't have to go to the DLH for a character meal.

I stayed off site at the Howard Johnson, spent just aboutn every minute in the park (and the hotel for sleeping and one night in the pool) and don't beluieve I missed a thing.

Save the money, stay off site, and spend your time in the parks. (BTW the "on site Disneyland Hotel" is not actually on site at all - it has no direct entrance and is further from the parks than some of the "off site hotels").

Use Super shuttle to get to the hotel from the airport. Either pick a hotel within walking distance or one that has a free shuttle, buy your tickets direct from the Disney website (or use AA if you are a member) and use the money you save to have an even better time at Disneyland by buying souvenirs and eating at nice restaurants - that's what we did!

I guess I wouldn't NEED to go to Disneyland Hotel but I just thought it might be neat to look around and take some pictures? Don't know. Anyway, I just worry about all the mixed reviews I hear about off-site hotels but I'll just keep looking into it all I guess.

There is no "right" answer- and it comes down to personal preference. I prefer to stay off site because I dont go to DL to see a hotel...(that and I'm partial to 2 off site hotels)

You are more than welcome to visit the DLH and take all the pics you want-
