Okay. I'm almost "there." Help me convince DH to do the 7-day Magic!

We got the quote from Vicki at DU. It's for a category 9 - 2 adults - no kids. A little less than $1,900.

We've never cruised before.

We've done WDW as our vacation a LOT of times in the past few years. DH is ready for something different, but he LOVES WDW as much as I do.

He took one look at that price and said..."WOA!!! That's a lot more than our WDW trips have cost." And I know that amount doesn't even include trip insurance, airfare (which is actually pretty cheap right now), transfers or rental car, and a hotel the night before. The $1900 I can swing with a yearly bonus from work. The extras will be pushing it.

Why SHOULD we do it?

P.S. I need to confirm this tomorrow (1/10) to get this deal.

But DH has to remember that this amount *does* include all meals and entertainment on board. Plus you won't have to purchase WDW park admission. The DCL ships are most definitely comparable to a deluxe WDW resort and the service in the restaurants is top-notch. If you figure that it works out to about $270 per day, with most everything (and certainly everything necessary) included, it's not so bad. That works out to $135 per person, per day. At WDW you pay anywhere from $80 to $300+ per night for the room, $40+ per day, per person for parks, plus food. And in either situation you will have the same travel costs from home to FL.

We absolutely love cruising on the DCL ships and can't wait for our 11/30/02 cruise! You get all of the Disney Magic in a whole new way.

Good luck making your decision!

We cruised the 4 day back in Jan 2000....before the 7 day was available...it was our first cruise ever and had a BLAST!!!!! The ONLY downfall was it went too fast........once we kinda got "comfortable" with the ship and everything it was time to leave!!!

SO..........we are going on the 7 day Magic on March 16 and CANT WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When are you traveling? I saw on an earlier post some really good prices...you might have some good ones too. Tell your dh to look at the boards...you can see everyone enjoys it! If that doesn't sell him agree to go w/out a Christmas/bday gift for awhile! :) TRY ANYTHING...cruising is so great!

for that quote? Sounded a little steep for two adults and no airfare, no transfers. I'm assuming you got this quote thru DCL direct. Call AAA, TA or DU to get another quote. Seems like you should be able to get something lower with everything included. We sailed 2/2000 with 4 and 2/2002 we sail with a total of 11 people. Tell DH he won't regret it. DCL is my opinion of how a vacation should be - someone cooking & cleaning for me and plenty of fun and sun and fun.

p.s. Don't let the $$ alone be the deciding factor. You probably could get a cheaper cruise elsewhere but quality is key.
