What the heck is a Pal Mickey?

I hate to admit I am clueless on this one, but have heard of him many times. Can some kind soul please enlighten me?

Pal Mickey is kind of like a stuffed animal that talks. He interacts with the different attractions, etc. around the park and comments on them. He can say a lot of different things and is generally meant to be carried around the park so that he can interact and not to be left in hotel. I have read many complaints that he is cumbersome to carry around the parks however....

I have Pal Mickey and love it. I have the classic version and he cme with us to all the parks. He gives tips/facts around the parks and also tells jokes. He is not a problem to carry around. I am thinking about buying the new ne.

I have read about pal mickey too, and was considering it. We will have a stroller, so he can sit with the baby. How much does Mickey cost?? My guess is 50 bucks. I might buy him for that, but anymore and thats really pushing it.
What kinds of info does he give you as well?

If I recall correctly (and that’s asking quite a bit some days), Pal Mickey cost us in the $50 range. As for what info he gives, he will give some fun facts about certain attractions when you walk past them. And he’ll also tell you “there is currently no wait at such and such attraction”, even when you aren’t near that attraction. And when he has nothing to say about attractions, he’ll ask trivia questions and tell jokes. We got one on our honeymoon last year, and we enjoyed it. My DW clipped him to the strap of her camera bag, and she didn’t think it was too cumbersome.

Ok, I looked him up on Allears, and he is now $65.00 I think thats a little steep! I was willing to for $50.00, but I can't justify the extra 15.

You used to be able to rent him...I am not sure if you can anymore.
We bought one -- DD loves him! She likes to play games with him.

You can no longer rent him. There are a couple different versions. The latest one in the parks is a Sorcerer version. The HCOE version (with tux) has been in the Outlet stores recently for $32.99. There is a thread somewhere with the contact info for the outlets. You can also buy used ones on ebay. I really enjoy my Pal Mickey.

I was always on the fence as to whether to buy one or not... they seem so cute and might be entertaining to have around but they seem a little heavy and cumbersome... oh and expensive... If I remember it was right around $60-65 when I went in July... Maybe I'll pony up and get one next time :confused3

Will old ones still work at the parks? I thought they were programmed not to repeat themselves.

Yes, the old ones will work in the parks. They won't know about the new attractions but will be able to tell you everything he was originally setup for. I've read about many people returning over & over and him working.

I have the "classic" Pal Mickey. He worked fine during our trip last month. He didn't have info on some of the new rides but I still enjoy taking Pal Mickey home with us.

I had read about these a couple of weeks ago - they sound great. My DS7 would love one for our trip in Aug 07 so I have told him to start saving now! :)

I love my palmickey. And now they have clothes for him, including a pirate outfit. :cool1:
Now why did you have to say that? I was all set to resist this until the image of Pirate Mickey stuck to my brain!! :p

There is a picture of the new pirate outfit on www.palmickey.net as well as the other outfits that have been out for more than a year. There is also a new Santa outfit out this year that I haven't seen pictures of yet. The pirate outfit is absolutely adorable!

:sunny: Oh cool! I read about him some place else and I really want one. What a fun idea! Moms gonna have to save up this time! Is the doll cuddly? I'm going at the busiest time of the year so I hear right after christmas, so can you buy them outside of Disney or is it a good chance it will be he stock?

Outifts? Oh no. My son has a Bear from "build a bear" shop and loves getting new outfits for it... I can see this Pal Mickey (that of course I will have to buy - I want one) will cost me a fortune - hee hee.

I dont have any outfits. But I love my Pal Mickey. My SO uses the strap for pins from the park.

I love the jokes he tells. Im have not taken him in a while. I wonder if they update him constantly like for the special events like the Christmas Parade etc.
