Okay I have a TRICKY transferring points? or two??

Okay we have 2 contracts with a Sept. UY both VWL 150 pts. and one 100 pt. contract Oct. SSR. Right now... we are in BORROW mode since we scaled down contracts. Right now I have the following:

VWL Sept. UY
82 2013 points
69 2014 points

SSR Oct. UY
57 2013 points
100 2014 points

I want to book a 2 br. in Aug. at OKW and I think the most efficient way will be to transfer the SSR points to the VWL points. Can I transfer all 157 points if I needed them??? OR WILL that count as two transfers since there are points from 2013 and 2014??? I have never ever transferred before.

Related to your exact question, you will not be able to transfer the 2014 Oct points and use them this Aug 2014 because you can't borrow transferred points. Sometimes they will make exceptions for multiple contractors of a single owner but there's really no need to take the chance in this situation. What I'd do is make the reservations in 2 segments using each contract then if you ended up needing to transfer just for the one night, I'd transfer just enough points to do that. For 7 nights at OKW early Sept you'd have to transfer 3 points from Sept to Oct but you'd have to do so before you made the reservations using the Sept UY. Since that should be an easier time to reserve and you're in borrowing mode, it might be a good time to catch up on points by looking at a cash night, getting cheaper points transferred in or considering trying another option either on or off property. I wouldn't do the one time use points if you have enough to make it work but I might if you ended up a few points shy and transferring wouldn't fix the issue.

Why not just book a portion of your stay with your VWL points and the other portion with your SSR points? Then you could have MS link the two reservations. OKW tends to have pretty wide availability in August at the 7 month mark.

Well I have 308 points and if I do that...then I am definitely not going to be able to use all of them. The way the points are for the dates we need...will leave left overs in both UY. I was hoping I could combine them all and get more bang for my buck. I guess that is what I will have to do.

I can book 5 nights in a 2br and use the 151 points of the WL and the 57 of the 2013 SSR. 5 nights in Aug. with Mon-Friday is 208 points. Then I can book two more nights with the 100 points in my SSR.

I was just working this out in my head. That sounds like a great way to do it! Just transfer the exact number of points from SSR to make your VWL contract the right amount for the days at the start of your stay. Then book the remaining days with your SSR points.

ETA: Just keep in mind that those transferred SSR points won't appear in in your VWL point total on dvcmember.com, so you won't be able to make the reservation online; you will need to call MS. That probably won't be a problem for an OKW 2BR in August.

I wouldn't, assuming a 7 night stay during Magic for OKW, what I'd do would be to make a 4 night weekdays only reservation using the SSR transferring just the 3 points and borrowing the rest. After that I'd make the 3 day weekend with the VWL. Realize that if you end up having to change or cancel you may lose all these points since you'll be so late in your UY. That's one of the reasons I think trying to find limited points for rental or transfer might be better even if it's more costly now. Then you could simply bank your 2013 points and limit you deficit for a few years.

You know what.. we ALMOST skipped going this summer for that very reason. However we have some borrowed points that have to be used now. I have never been in a POINTS pickle like this before.
