I'm just curious, as I hear wild whoppers from my ex's wife when they tell me they can't pay for daycare...anywho, I just want this clarified for my own curiosity.

Can you get pregnant if you have a "partial hysterectomy"?

This woman has claimed so many times before that she was pregnant then lost the baby...but, as far as I was aware, you couldn't get pregnant once it was done....not only that, but she's had three hysterectomies. Now, I'm not completely stupid...but, I know those don't grow back.

Anywho, just to clarify to satisfy my curiosty would be nice. We've been giggling about it at work.

See, I went back and took that out because I just knew it would be misconstrued! LOL

(you're fast)

A partial means the uterus is removed, but not the cervix. Not possible to get pregnant without one? There is a case where an egg implanted in a woman's abdominal wall, and
I believe it grew to term.

can you get pregnant after a partial hysterectomy?
cause ive been told that you can i just want comfermation on it

**************
No, your uterus is removed and there is no route for the sperm to travel to your tubes to meet the egg. When an egg is released, your body just absorbs it. Partial just means that your ovaries are left in place, so you don't have to endure hormone therapies.

**************
Pseudocyesis, the condition where a nonpregnant woman believes she is pregnant and has objective signs of pregnancy.

The disorder involves both psychological and neuroendocrine mechanisms and is related to other conditions varying in severity from fleeting fears and wishes in healthy women to pathological changes in neuroendocrine functions in others.

The notion that the condition is a heterogeneous one, closely related to other more common disorders, is emphasized.

I worked with a woman who had two utereses (sp?). She didn't know about it until she got pregnant two times, 4 months apart from each other.

I don't know about getting pregnant after a partial, but, my mom was pregnant WHEN she had a partial. After I was born they finished the job, and only left the part to continue the pregnancy. If they had this technology over 30 years ago, who knows what is possible now. As for the 3 hysterectomys...could they not get it right???

Wow, do we share the same ex wife to have to deal with?

Honestly, and I hope this girl isn't a member of the DIS but I had a friend who had 2! :faint:

She had one set of ovaries and one (I know the DIS censor will catch this word but it begins with a V) and the doctors didn't have a clue about her uteruses until she had her first child.

Then they told her that she would probably never get pregnant again because of the set up. You can do the math. :lmao:

So much for doctors. Three months after she had her first son, she was pregnant again. She's got two boys less than a year apart.

Maybe she ment myomectomy(sp), a surgery similar to a hysterecotmy where uterin fibroids are removed. Fibriods can and do grow back and can keep a pregnancy from making it to full term. My sister had two myomectomies while trying to concive and finally had a hysterectomy after one grew to the size of a softball in less than 6 mos. Then again maybe the OP is talking about a true nut job. :confused3

DW and I had an acquaintance (she was a friend at the time) who told us that she had had a hysterectomy. She then became pregnant, but lost the baby.

I'm not a doctor, but I've always been led to believe that, as with any operation, it might not be 100% effective. I've heard of vasectomies reversing themselves, and women getting pregnant that way. As I said above, I've heard of a woman getting pregnant after the hysterectomy. On the other hand, she could have been lying.

After three hysterectomies? My gut instinct is - not a chance!
