Okay, I have a question...

I think sidewalks are considered part of the public domain and they are supposed to remain unobstructed. :)

I know here that four feet in from the street is considered town/city property, whether it is sidewalked or grass covered - it still doesn't belong to you.

If that is the case where you you live, then the cop was doing the right thing.

As a person who WALKS on the sidewalks and doesn't drive, please, please park correctly. It is very upsetting to me to have to take my child into the street with moving cars so that we can continue our walk when you are parked on the sidewalk.

I'm sure you don't think you're doing anything wrong but the fact of the matter is if I or anyone else gets hit by another car while we have to wak in the street due to you blocking the sidewalk, we could easily sue you and you'd be liable. Please park correctly.

Moving off my soapbox.....

It might not even apply since we don't live in the same city but the sidewalk is more than four feet away from the road.

And please don't flame me.

No flames, but sidewalks are usually considered public domain and you aren't allowed to block them.

I am pretty sure the sidewalk is not considered your property. Even our homes do not seem like our own property. Have to get a permit for anything we want to do.

hey Julie_yet...... I think you should have kept this one to yourself!!! LOL.... people have no idea how things are in our town.....

how many times have cops been around and in our neighborhood and NEVER said anything? (and NO the neighborhood is'nt a bad neighborhood... we have an AWESOME neighborhood watch)

I used to live in the same house that Julie_Yet lives in and they have lived there for 20 YEARS.... without anyone saying anything...

so hey EVERYONE do the FREAKIN' math!!!!

(NOW THAT WAS A FLAME ON EVERYONE ELSE!!!!!) LOL

Jessica

Can you describe the sidewalk better? I guess I'm wondering why no one else has the sidewalk but your yard........

no flames from me Julie_yet.......I'd be curious too if I were you.

Here is another vote for Lakeland......where is this guys....North or South side? Downtown?

Lakeland is a bit of an odd city...

hey Julie_yet is not on right now.... but i'm her sister and i lived used to live in that house also....

the sidewalk is about 5 feet from the road... this wasn't a city or county job.... this was a personal thing... the previous owners had done....

and it connects directly to the front steps going up into the house...

NO ONE else in the WHOLE neighborhood has sidewalks.... JUST that house..... so that cop must have had a bad doughnut or something....

Hey Dax..... we live in dixieland.... now you know how the houses and properties are there.....

Hell the roads are still brick on our road!!!!

Oh yeah...when I bought my house I refused to even look in Dixieland....Couldnt bear to live under all those restrictions and didnt want a small brick rd in front of my house. I live out in the Kathleen area.....When I moved there it was all trees and fields, just last year...LOL....now they are ripping it all out to add more houses....What is Lakeland coming to...

i know can you believe how much Lakeland has grown?? We have been here for 20 years like i said and WOW the differences are amazing....

i just had to jump to my Little Sisters defense on this.... most folks are talking through their hats on this one....

Kiddo, thankyou for the info on where the sidewalk is located.

I'd tend to lean toward a good cop/bad doughnut morning too. Maybe it was sourdough? :p

Maybe there was nothing going on and the cop was just looking for something to do, to feel important...LOL

Well Dax you know the LPD.... when they are called they usually have 6 or 7 cruisers per on call.... these Yahoos are bored out of their minds!! LOL

Not to be a grump, but from someone who walks regularly with a carriage and has to take the carriage off the sidewalk, into the street with moving cars, then back up on the sidewalk(no easy task) because of cars parked on the sidewalk, I would think parking on the street would be the more considerate thing to do.
No flames, just an opinion. :D

i guess that i should ALSO mention.... the freakin sidewalk is only about 15 feet long!!!!!!!! just thought THAT might make a difference....

so if you were walking ON the road THIS would be the ONLY sidewalk on the entire street....

opinion noted.....

i think this was the most intelligent comment as of late.... LOL

i think i must also say that i am not truly mad..... i am just amazed at how many people will AUTOMATICALLY side with a cop..... regardless of the circumstances..
truth be told..... i don't like cops no matter what...
