Okay, I have a points question...

I know that you can bank points to the next year...How many years can you do that?

For example...Our use year is February. In 2004 we are going to SSR for a week at Christmas time. We will bank our extra points for 2005. Now we go in the spring of 2005 and don't get back again that year. I bank our points again for 2006. Is this possible?

Your February 2004 points can be banked forward for use between February 1, 2005 and January 31, 2006. Those points must be used by January 31, 2006. When you get your February 2005 allotment, you can bank any or all of those points forward for use between February 1, 2006 and January 31, 2007 and so on through the years.

Generally you can use up to three use years worth of points on one trip - a banked year, current year and borrowed year. You cannot bank more than one year's worth of points. There are some circumstances/dates when you can actually use 4 years worth of points on a trip

You can bank only to the next year. Then the next year you have to use them or lose them.

Likewise for borrowing. you can only borrow from the year ahead.
Again you have to use them in the current use year or lose them.

There is no turning back once you bank or borrow. You can't bring back the banked points into the current year and you cannot place the borrowed points back into next years.

Would this be under those "one lifetime" type things that MS has been known to do? Otherwise I can not think of a way for this to happen.

It would involve a trip scheduled over the beginning of a Use Year, where you would use some of the points for the days before the beginning of the Use Year and the rest after the Use Year start could be reserved with points borrowed from the following Use Year.

It's just a circumstance where the utilization could use points from 4 different Use Years. No smoke- no mirrors- no special unwritten rules.

Assuming I understand your post, you can actuallydo what you state above with some limitations.

Just to restate what I understand. Feb use year starting with Feb 2004 points. A stay during that use year (Dec, 04) which only uses part of the 04 points. Then bank those points to the 05 use year. Now a stay in the 2005 use year followed by banking the remaining points to the 2006 use year. You can do that assuming that the combined total points of your 2004 AND 2005 stays was at least as many points as you have for a single year.

Assume 200 points per year. Say your 2004 stay is 100 points and you bank the rmaining 2004 points (100). In 2005 you use 150 pts (100 banked and 50 current) then bank the remaining 150 CURRENT YEARS points to 2006 giving you 350 (200 current, 150 banked). The only ways you would lose points would be if you missed your banking deadlines, cancelled reservations late or the combination of your 2004 trip PLUS your 2005 trip were less than the total you get in one year.
